You neglected to say one thing, you have to be 200 percent under the poverty level in order to get help with this drug. That level for one person is a little over 23,000. So by the time you pay the doctor, get CT scans, MRI's, pay for your food rent/mortgage etc, a lot can't even pay for the copay. FACE IT, the company that make oxycontin spent a fortune putting another company out of business that was making a generic for it. So who's in bed with the FDA? For 60, 30 mp ills it cost $500, that's 8.33 a pill. Also many that rely on this drug because they NEED it normally has to have other pills as well for other problems. If the FDA didn't squash the generic, it could've been some help. Yes the fat cats are getting fatter, strat email your elected official, they don't have anything to do but ruin America.

Is that the same as oxycodone? My father takes that for his back pains for a deteriorating disk.

Where do you live? I am in KY, I am medially retired from the Federal government and disabled. I have been in pain management for 10 years and have taken several different pain medications. Now due to new laws in Kentucky, our doctors are afraid to prescribe me what I have taken for the past five years. For the last 10 months of my life they have decreased my dose leaving me in more pain and bed ridden. I am unable to do even the simplest of tasks. I feel like I am dying and now I'm on a high dose of blood pressure meds because my pain in uncontrolled. I am a real patient that has lost the help of this medication because it was abused. I have done nothing, but I am treated criminally. Does Perdue have attorneys to help the patients that have been hurt by the new laws? If so please help us. Hurting in Kentucky. Please HELP the real patients. We are suffering in silence, and the doctors
we trust to care for us are turning their backs on us for fear of losing there jobs.

I totally agree with you! This is a very effective and safe medication when taken as intended to be taken but the drug abusers have given it a bad name! Don't blame the company who came up with this very effective pain medication for the deaths of people who obtain it illegally and abuse it. It is not intended for them and because of them the medication has been reformulated and is no longer as effective and patients who legitimately take it are needlessly having to suffer!

I'm not a bible thumper and I definitely think Purdue Pharmacy should be prosecuted along with most of the rest of big Pharma. I wouldn't be surprise if they ADDED something to make it MORE addictive. They don't care about people....just profits. People are just walking (the ones that still are walking) dollar signs.

Evidently you've never had pain that you have to live with. I've had six back surgeries for next surgeries I barely can walk cannot function without my medication. I believe in God and if it wasn't for God this medication would not have ever been manufactured.
