Period Halfway Through Cycle

I began taking Lo Loestrin Fe two and a half months ago. I did not get my period either of the first two months, but had no spotting or side effects from the pill and continued to take it. Now, halfway through my cycle (ending the second week), I've had 2 days of bleeding. It is not as heavy as my usual periods (before taking birth control), but is not minor spotting.

I am pretty definite I am not pregnancy as I had intercourse around 10 times, always with a condom, having taken birth control continuously throughout the months.

Does anyone know why this may be happening? I've read that a lot of people miss periods on Lo Loestrin Fe, but it seems weird that I'm bleeding all of a sudden after two months of nothing.

Thanks!

This is a hormonal contraceptive, so breakthrough bleeding can be a side effect of it. Your hormone levels could also be affected by additional stress, sudden weight loss or gain, changes in exercise and etc. And any of that can add to the hormones you're getting from it and cause such a thing to occur, as well.

Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Usually, you should expect these irregularities to be possible for the first 3 months that you are taking it.

However, your doctor should be consulted to be certain that nothing unusual is going on.
