Percocet Vs Norco (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Updated

I'm taking percocet 10/650mg. I have (DDD), (Athritis), and the list goes on. I have a friend on Norco. Can you tell me what the difference is between them and the highest mg the norco comes in? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You are so right. Addicts have made it impossible to get the proper help. I have degenerative disc disease, severe OA, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, hemangioma tumor at t-5, a fractured coccyx that will never heal properly, also 2 lesions in my brain that cause severe migraines. Both feet, hands, shoulders, knees, spine...everything is eaten up with OA. I have been assigned to two different pain clinics and the only thing they would do was give me injections and give me Lyrica. I just had knee surgery Monday (2 days ago) and they didn't even want to give me Norco. It doesn't kill my pain, so I had to call back for something else. It was like pulling teeth to get percocet. I've never taken it, so I hope it works, but I know once it runs out I will be without anything. This is my opinion: If someone has this many CHRONIC illnesses that will NEVER go away or get better and only progressively get worse, why won't they give that person pain meds??? Seriously, who should care if I were to become addicted to pain meds. I live in white hot soul stealing pain every single day and I'm only 43. My surgeon says I have the health of a 65 y/o. It's sad! I need ongoing help with pain!

Hi, I'm new here and trying to figure things out. I had a baby back in October via C Section and almost immediately afterwards I started having back problems. At first my doctor said it was due to problems with my epidural. But, it has only gotten worse. 2 months ago I started having severe pain and loss of bladder control. My doctor wasn't open yet do I went to the ER. I hated the way I was treated, I actually felt shamed (I'm in an area that's pretty well known for pill abuse).
After 2 separate MRI's and a short consult with a neurosurgeon, they said I have Cauda Equina syndrome I need back surgery and have a nice day. I saw my primary the following day and she put me on a conference call with my neurologist (I have epilepsy. Controlled for the most part with Keppra and a .25mg xanax during stressful situations). They both recommended me to consult with two neurosurgeons and see what they come up with while they obtained the records from my C Section and epidural. Both neurosurgeons agree that it is Cauda Equina syndrome and I will need surgery. I cannot afford it anytime this year ($1,500 deductible with an 8 month old, too much salall at once). I've since been to a pain management doctor and he prescribed Norco 5mg 2x a day. My last appointment, he moved it to 7.5mg 2x a day. It helps, but not enough. My son is very active, up and down and wanting to be held a lot while teething, and by 4pm, I'm in tears (also, I'm usually up at 4am and can't get to bed till 10pm or later).
I have another appointment next week and I'm just wondering if there is anything that might help me better, longer lasting and a little more effective? I've taken things for different situations before (dental surgery in '99- Demoral, broken tibia in '02- Percocet, car accident in '08- Vicodin, C Section in '14- Percocet 5mg, gallbladder removal in '14- Percocet 5mg) but all those times were accidents or surguries with acute pain. I'm in pain from the minute I wake up. There are times were it becomes more intense, like after lifting my son from his bouncer or play mat, or carrying him for long periods or taking in a large load of groceries, otherwise it's just constant pain. I'm not sure what would be a good option for me. My doctor is sort of new to me and I don't have the level of comfort I have with him that I've built with my primary and neurologist over the years.
I start with a traction table in 2 weeks and I'm getting the approval process started for surgery while I raise the money for the deductible, but it doesn't look like it will happen until December or January.
I know I'm at risk of developing a dependance on these meds, but I cannot keep up with my increasingly active son without them.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I have been taking norco10325 and then I was diagnosed with lupus n thyroid problems. I had plastic surgery n was cut all the way around which I was bleeding out and burned which went into septicsemia. Also herniated 5 disc in my back. Anyways why don't they just come out with a pill that u only have to take 1 pill instead of a bunch..

Get serious! Get off of the percocets! You are not helping arthritis at all and they are addictive. Look at your long term life goal, not an easy feel-good. Percocet is hot on the illegal market for a reason....

Please be careful, anyone taking any over the counter or prescription pain pills. My late husband was on these medications due to severe and crippling pain and surgeries. He passed away from liver failure in 2007 from all of the Tylenol in these medications. Just wanted you all to be aware. God bless.

I agree that marijuana is a far more healthy choice for
pain management. The dark side is it can cause Delirium
in some people, mine lasted 5 days. No one mentions that side. It is why I cannot ingest it. If your only choice is pain medication, try to get by on the least amount you can. Drink water, stay away from booze & keep taking a multiple vitamin.Excercise ( a little goes a long way).
Good Luck. D.

Might be ok. Lyrica samples worked good for my husband with Vasculitis, but not covered by Medicaid-- so might be limitations on choices depending on ur health coverage --high retail price negated possibility of other purchase.

I also have neuropathy and I take gabapentin 600 mg 4x a day. But I also have restless leg syndrome, fibromyaligaand joi.nt hyprrmobility syndrome. That is not even 1/2 of my problems, point is pain meds help better than the gabapentin. So let's not be judging ppl.

My pain management doctor gives norco and tramadol together. It is honestly the only reason I am not eating the norco like candy because they wear off so fast. The tramadol seems to extend the time in between doses of norco. My dr won't prescribe over 6 norco a day though. My old pain dr had me on 8 a day when I was 20. Now that i am almost 30 I am having a hard time getting what I need without all the hassle. Ideally what I need is my back fixed and to be pain free. Ha! since my issues are genetic I have to play the hand I was dealt and adjust accordingly. Seriously though the tramadol and norco together is a good combination! I stayed on tramadol for a few years this go round before I had to up my meds. stay on low doses as long as possible.

Can i take an ibuprofen with a norco

Yes, ibuprofen is an NSAID. Norco is hydrocodone/acetaminophen combo. It won't hurt at all. Possibly make you have more relief if you have inflammation.

No place for judgment on threads like these. We all have pain and just need to help each other positively, leave the judging for those people in our lives who've never lived with pain a day in their lives and have no idea what it's like to take a walk in our shoes! My thoughts and prayers are with you ma'am! Hope you get some quality of life back!

Percocet has less Tylenol in it. They made norco with less Tylenol than it previously had in it, but Percocet has less. Oxy has zero in it.
