Percocet Vs. Co-codamol ?

I have been taking percocet 7/325 three (3)X daily along with oxycontin every day for several years, prescribed by doctor due to several herniated discs.
Recently I traveled out of the country and was surprised to see codeine products for sale in pharmacies without a script. I purchased a couple of boxes of Co-codamol 8/500 , hoping it would be an effective backup for times when I ran short of percocet. (I am not getting "high" for fun, I have chronic pain and a very full workload with no support system)however the co-codamol tablets don't seem to work for me unfortunately they don't really relieve my pain they just make me tired. Has anyone else found this product to be helpful? It's made by "Zentiva" Thank you.

Codeine is a relatively mild narcotic and the U.S. is actually one of the few countries that requires it to be prescribed by a doctor and filled by a licensed pharmacy. It can be obtained without it in both Canada and Mexico, though brining it into the U.S. is technically considered illegal.

Just to give you an example of how mild it is and the likely reason it isn't helping your pain.....

If you were just taking Percocet that contained 5mgs of the Oxycodone, you'd need 50mgs of Codeine to be an equal dosage. :-/

Thus, if you're used to taking Oxycodone, it's really not a viable backup analgesic.

Because you are an opiate addict. Codeine is like aspirin compared to the amount of narcotics you have been ingesting daily for several years.
