Percocet Dosage Limits 5/325 (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am taking the percocet 512 white tablets 5mg/325 for severe back pain due to degenerating disc(s). I have been told 1 pill every 8 hours, but find the pain so excruciating after about 5 hours that I cannot even stand... even to use the bathroom or shower. My MD cannot get me into a specialist until August, but I am having real stress here. Will it be harmful for me to take more than the one tablet per 8 hours??
Bumpy - I can definitely relate to that "feeling like a criminal" asking for an opioid analgesic or a dose increase. This is irrespective of my medical training and experience. The- however i can "talk the talk" and am also aware of how drug abusers present in the clinic. Unfortunatlly not giving non-opioids a fair chance is a very red light. Advil is probably not the best NSAIDS to use - its always dosed too low anyhows. I suggest Naproxen 250mg twice daily (Alleve?)
I am taking 50mg a day Oxynorm plus 240mg dihydrocodeine and 400mg Tylenol for advanced osteoarthritis for some ten years now - liver analysis comes back fine - the pain is tolerable. The DHC is not now believed to act purely as an opioid. From its pleasant subjective feel i wouldn't be surprised if some dihydrocodinone (aka hydrocodone) was generated by reductases in the body
I was prescribed hydrocodone five 325 take 1 to 2 every four hours as needed for pain how long should they have lasted
It wont hurt you my doctor gives me 60-80 mg oxy 120 percocet 10-325 120 mg dalaudid & 240 ultram a month. been for 5 years now im still cool.
had gallbladder surgery on the 21st Nov. 2013 and was put on Percocet 5/325. I'm in my second day and they are NOT working. Why would I be given such a low amount instead of 10's. I'm in so much pain now, I am taking 2 every 2 hours. I had two back operations and a shoulder operation. They put me on morphine pump. Even Lortab 10's would work better than these+ pain. I'm very dibiliated with this pain and am going to Urgent care tomorrow if it doesn't ease.
For the pain u r having. U should be taking the10/325mg these will work much better.it wont hurt to double up on yours the only thing u have to be careful. About is the acetaminophen. That is what the 325mg is in the pills.it can be bad for your liver do not take more than 4000mg in a 24hr period.but u will be fine I take 2 of mine every 4 to 6hrs for my bad knees one has been replaced and the other one causes me a lot of pain good. Luck I wish u well.
I got up from having a nap and am running a 99.7 low grade fever, this is after 3rd day of my gallbladder laproscopic procedure. The percoset 5/325 don't seem to be helping the pain much, so I took (2) 7.5 Lortabs I had left over from my knee ops on September 9. I was taking Lortab 10's for my sciatic nerve problem previous to the knee operations (both kness on same day) but am all out of them. They are due to be re-ordered tomorrow. Maybe I should re-order them and see if they are any better. Today is Saturday so they won't be able to call doctor until Monday.
I would also like to add that, ever since my PM doctor added a lower strength Rx of Oxycodone (20mg) to my pain management protocol, that used to be Oxycontin 80mg twice daily (which did help the pain but didn't allow me to sleep at night!), I've been able to reduce my Oxycontin consumption by 50%! Now I can usually get by with only one 80mg tab in the morning (which will last virtually all day) and 1, perhaps 2, of the lower, fast acting, tab per day. Personally, and considering what the additional ingredient (whether it be acetaminophen, aspirin, or otherwise) WILL do to your liver, I would, and do, feel much better simply taking the Oxy by itself and I'm getting better pain reducing results than I have since 2005! If I were you (and your liver) I would definitely consider that regiment versus what you're on now. And, as far as becoming an addict is concerned, I can't really relate to that (thankfully) because I've never, ever gotten or even remotely felt "high" from either one of the pain medications I've been taking over these last 8 years so I suppose I'm very lucky that the only thing I've ever felt is pain RELIEF, plain and simple.
Hey Richie. Rich who's your doctor I am. In bad pain pins in my. Back my spine is almost gone I need avoid pain doctor
When I was diagnosed with Advanced detereorating disc disease causing sciatic nerve problems in my left leg, my doctor had me on Lortab 10's and they worked very well . Then when I had my knee Surgery Sept.9/13 I was taking 2 7'5's every 4 hours. Two months later last week, I was prescribed Percocet 5/325. I've been in a lot of pain and they don't help at all, so had some 7.5's left from my knee operation so have switched to them. I had a horrible pain attack last night in my side where is, so took 3 of the percs 5. It took an hour but helped. I want to go back to the Lortab 10's, but not sure doctor will prescribe them. What do I have to do to get some pain relief?
Try Lortab 10/325. Effective pain pill for DDD and lower in Tylenol. It really helped me.
See my earlier post regarding Oxycodone/Oxycontin.... Also, and when I had horrible back pain (prior to my spinal fusion), my PM specialist had me on the Duragesic (fentanyl) patch which, after getting past the first couple of weeks getting used to it, worked extremely well and, again, after getting used to it, didn't make me feel anything but pain relief. You might want to ask your Dr. about the patch. Good luck and hope your pain issue is dealt with soon and successfully! God bless....
i had shoulder today an am prescribed oxycodone 5--325 and am taking 2 every 4 hours. I am in SEVERE pain!!! it isn't even touching it. I plan to call the MD in the morning. in the mean time what can I do??? im using ice packs and taking Naproxen twice daily as well. I have a high tolerance for pain. I don't usually take pain meds.....but this pain is unbearable!! what can I do or take to help?
Personally, and aside from what you're already doing (although I would alternate the cold with hot every 20 minutes), there's not much more that I can suggest. However, in regard to the Oxy you've been prescribed, that is one of the very lowest doses you can get, not to mention the fact that you're also taking Acetomeniphen along with it (that's the 325 part of the formulation.... the 5 is 5mg Oxy which is next to nothing). If your back pain is THAT BAD, then I would do what I had to do so many times in the past and go to the ER, not just for a pain shot but perhaps they may even do some more detailed diagnostics that might further indicate exactly what's going on in there to cause you so much pain. Just a thought and, frankly, all I can think of at this point. Good luck to you and God bless..... C
I had surgery on Monday my Dr gave me 2mg of Dilaudid to take every 4 hrs. He gave me 40 in the prescription. How many days supply is that?
Actually, you need to re-check your math. There are 24 hours in one day. If someone takes one tablet of anything every four hours, then the person will be using 6 tablets per day, not 4. Four tablets per day would be 1 tablet every six hours.

Tapentadol has a high risk for abuse and severe, possibly fatal, breathing problems. The risk for harm is higher if you take the wrong dose/strength, or if you take it along with other drugs that might also affect breathing. Be sure you know how to take tapentadol and what other drugs you should avoid taking with it. The risk for breathing problems might also be higher when you start this medication and after a dose increase. Get medical help right away if you notice unusual slow/shallow breathing.
Keep this medicine in a safe place to prevent theft, misuse, or abuse. If a child accidentally swallows this drug, get emergency medical help right away
the normal amnt of percocet is 1 q4-6 hrs po. prn for pain some doctors do not even prescribe oxycodone or are afraid of giving more than two or three a day....which is not right since it is one of the best pain relieving drugs we have on the market today
62 year old female who had rwo total knee replacements two weeks ago. I'm taking 1 tramadol every 6 hours and 1 oxymoron 5/325 every 6 hours (alternating so I am taking one or the other every three hours) for a total of 4 of each type during a 24 hour period. I also have stage 2 chronic kidney disease so want to get off them soon as possible. I see my knee doctor in a couple of days but meanwhile plan to start taking these so I take 1 or the other every 8 hours (3 of each type during a 24 hour period.) Does this sound like a good plan? My pain has been minimal.
Sorry for auto corrects! That is TWO new knees and OXYCODONE (not oxymoron)!
