What is the effect of periods on male fertility?

A female's period has no effect on male fertility, as explained by the NIH. It only affects hers, since most women will not be able to get pregnant, while on their period, since it is past their fertile time of ovulation.

However, sperm can survive for awhile, so if it is near her time of ovulation and they engage in intercourse, she may still get pregnant.
