Patch Adhesion
UpdatedHello!
I need help, please! See, I've agreed with my provider and am going on a 7 day patch plan. Typically I stay away from patches as I'm obese and one size does not fit all, however, he's convinced me to give it a go. I have tried a pain med patch once and I couldn't get it to stick to me. I was scared to death at the time, but now it's a great chuckle.
Problem is I dunno what the problem is, I have very sensitive skin that is less than...textured? Just really smooth and no hair due to awesome heritage. That leaves the problem between baby butt skin, shower gel, or lotion or I'm insane and I'm actually sweaty and oily, who the heck knows, I need ideas! Please! I tried everything from the drugstore and the big discount stores and no luck. The patches always say, no alcohol on your skin prior to putting the patch on, and they say nothing should be on the skin in that area nor can you cover the patch...like duct tape it to myself. Sounds fab, right? It doesn't stick, I can't use ultra dry deodorant, I can't tape it on and I'm at a loss. I guess I have time to hold it on with one finger all day long until I can train the poodle to do it when she isn't being the snobby dog I just love. So you can see how I might need help...any suggestions on how to get a patch to stick for 7 (yes SEVEN :O) whole days?
Please keep in mind, I move a lot in my sleep, I do sweat due to medications, and I have hair near my bottom that I braid off to the side. Hair and patches don't jive...it was a rough sleep study or 4.
Thanks in advance,
Sarah

Hello, Sarah! How are you?
You may think that you don't have hair, but there still could be enough there to prevent a patch from sticking. It could be just too baby fine to see. I'd suggest shaving the area, just to be sure.
And also, there are some products that can be used with the patches to help them adhere. Your pharmacist should be able to help you find one that is safe to use.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
