Here is a link to help find local pain management Doctors....
medtronic.com/patients/chronic-pain/living-with/index.htm
Now on this page you have to scroll down and look to the right and you will see "TAKE CHARGE Find a Doctor" near you just put in your zip code for the doctors in your area. I had a drug infusion pump put in at the beginning of this year (JAN 2014) while it has helped me the biggest problem I am having, problems with the doctors that I call asking did we install the pump I reply no it was done in Erie, PA then the receptionist reply's well if we did not put it in then we WILL NOT SERVICE THE PUMP, what kind of BS is that?? they don't tell you that if you have them put in you can never relocate that IS NOT RITE!!! medicare paid thousands of dollars for the MORPHINE pump to be put in and then you are told the other pain doctors will not service them what kind of crap is this????? I went through back surgery back in 2012 and since have been worse after the surgery than I was before... before I had both siatic nerves pinched and yes it was painful but after surgery I have had lower back pain, followed by severe pain in my legs (all the way down to the tips of my toes) my left foot the tops is a constant pain kinda like pins and needles 24 hours 7 days a week. now my right side hurts, and have several no sleep nights.. I will never suggest anyone to have back surgery!!!!! my wife had 6 screws 2 rods put in her back and she is still having problems...
The Dr. that did my back ( DR.Terrance Foust) in Coudersport,PA did not know what to do after surgery with me hurting worse after surgery than b4 surgery so he sent me to a pain management doctor, which I did not know he had never finished his training of implanting a pain pump, so a few weeks b4 the surgery was scheduled they referred me out to some doctor in Pittsburgh, PA and by time they had referred me out I found a DR. Diefenbach in Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa that would put the pump in for me ( which CUDO'S to Dr. Diefenbach for doing a fine job :) ) then I had found a Dr. Eugene Gosy @ Gosy and Associates in Williamsville, NY ( by Buffalo) which did the trial to see if the pump would be beneficial to me he did a good job But, the only problem I had with them is the office will not make a referral for you to another pain management doctor, all they will do is send a letter stating they are releasing you, (NO HELP THERE) but they can improve in that department, the office manager was such a b**** and had tried to make things seem worse and tried to say I owed them more than what I did, due to insurance not paying there share yet, and she was going to kick me out if I did not pay the bill like now, but other than that Dr. Gosy is a hell of a good doctor and good at what he does!!! but if I had the chance of doing it all over I would never have back surgery again I was better off leaving things alone!!!

Re: Ali (# 5)
Try the instant release Adderall. The extended release didn’t work for me either.
They’re very different chemically.
I do not know what to think. When I was on morphine my pump delivered only 6 mg over 24 hours and no bolus. It did not help me so tjey changed it to hydromophone (sp) but he capped that at 2 mg over 24 hours with up to 5 bolus no earlier than 1 hour apart and those arw only .200 each. Total dose if I use all bolus is a whapping 3 mg!
Re: Ladybug46 (# 4)
Doesn't having this pump and the daily flow of the morphine make you tired? I am on a continuous flow of 21.474/day and I have a PTM that can bolus me an additional 1.5 mg every 10 minutes up to 10 times a day making my dose 35.886/day. I'm ALWAYS so tired. My doctor gave me adderall years ago when I had this pump put in me (I've had it for 10 years). I started the adderall xr about a year later at 10 mg/day. I am now up to 30 mg - 2x day but with no effect. It is because of my insurance, I am on generics. They say I don't qualify for brand name and none of the generics are helping me. The only generic that has any effect is Prasco but unfortunately it does not last 12 hours like its supposed to. I'm lucky to get 4 hours. Is there anyone on this site with anything like what I'm going through? I have a few days to answer my insurance company with proof that Adderall XR 30 mg, 2/day will work for me over any generic. I need to meet the 2 diagnostic codes required by the FDA for "narcolepsy from an opioid medication" that falls under their category. I am not sure what their requirement is or where to find it. Someone, please offer some advice as to how I can proceed with this requirement - I'm desperate and like I said I only have this weekend to resolve this or I will be denied by my insurance and then I'm lost and back on the generics. Please help direct me!!!
That's awful that you weren't told It could only be serviced by who put it in. I know this is an old reply but but I wanted thank you. Thank you for sharing the link. It was so nice of you to let others know. I've had the hardest time finding a clinic. I'm on morphine and oxy along with other meds but here in with they've really cut down. Like froedert hospital and clinics they want people at low dosages and try to only give interventional procedure's. I went to a consultant and the pain dr was so compassionate she had tears but told me it wasn't the right place and she soulfully believed I needed narcotics and she couldn't help me because of their policies. So I went to the biggest pain management but I was hurt Bad during a procedure and they thought it was best I went else. So now I'm at a clinic that costs a lot. $150 visit with Medicaid anthem $70 . I had to switch back to children's community so I can't afford the $150. I pray your link will help me! My med refill is at the beginning of may and its not easy finding a pain clinic that one either takes Medicaid or any other insurance so its all out of pocket. I had been approved for a morphine pump but then they said I had to be on Medicaid so I don't know if that was true or they just didn't want to it. I a severe brain injury among other serious conditions I need to find a good affordable dr. I hope things are going the best they can be for you.
Amen! I had back surgery as well and before surgery I admit my pain management doctor tried hard to talk me out of having surgery but I wanted off pain meds and my surgeon told me I would be able to get off them after surgery so surgery it was and now a life of pain after surgery has been truly unreal it's nearly impossible to manage I sadly went to see the surgeon today becaus I am now having hardware issues inhave an Alif with Synfix PEEK and I would VERY strongly encourage anyone never let anyone operate on your spine unless there is no other choice life or death don't do it if it's not life saving do not risk it
i too hae had a failed back surgery and a failed neck surgery and suffer form so much pain i wish i had never ever gone through with the surgeries. cant find anyone to prescribe me anything but and occasional script of trmadol which does nothing. im treated like a criminal in these pain mgt places and im going to take my care in to my own hands now reach out to places like this and research until i find someone to help me in pitt pa area. meanwhile im gettinig a t-shirt that says "SUFFERER NOT SEEKER!"
I have been on pain meds since 2003, as of rite now I get oral morphine sulfate 60mgs er two times a day & three times a day take 4mg hydromorphone ir. I really love my doctor but he does not deal with morphine pumps. Since I know il b on these meds the rest of my life I was wondering if I'd b a candidate for a morphine pump?
