Pain Medication Need Answers (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi. I have a question about fentanyl. I'm on 25+12mg every 72hr but still in a lot off pain. Now I heard from a friend that oxycodone 80mg is stronger. I'm in the pain clinic and my dr said my insurance (bmc) doesn't cover the oxycodone. Can anyone tell me if I can pay for the meds with cash?

Hello, Caroux! How are you?
No, Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic available, it is even stronger than Oxycodone.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
However, you may need a medication for breakthrough pain, in addition to the patches. Most doctors will prescribe a low dose Oxycodone or something similar.
Have you let your doctor know that your current regimen isn't handling your pain?
Im have been on the fentanyl patch 100 mic and oxycodone 30mg for 18 yrs now . I fell off a roof that was 3 stories high . Been in 4 car accidents and 3 motorcycle accidents. In april my pain doctor told me i had to come off the patch and come down from 6pills a day to 2 pills aday because of the new law . But i pay cash to see him and for my meds . Around $600 EVERY MONTH. the law has nothing to do with me and now i only have 5 months left . What can i do . I live in Massachusetts. I will fly anywhere to keep my meds . Any idears how to get help .
Go up to the 50 mic or 75 mic or the 100mic. And use the rx assistant cards. They help pay for the meds. Look on your phone or use blink its cheaper.

Try a NH pain clinic. I go to one who keeps trying to out me on the patch & I keep turning it down. I am on a few super low dose oxycodons and I can choose to wait to take my dose if I am doing something that requires that, so I am not ok with using a patch. That, and if this super low dose fairly inexpensive pill works why TF would I want to go up? With all the media BS about these meds the last thing I want to do is write that I take “Fentanyl” on and new patient forms anywhere ever. Regarding insurance, I recently found out Medicare won’t cover generic Oxycodone XRs, only name brand Oxycontin. If your question is about cash cost, you can call the pharmacy where you usually fill & they can tell you. Or if you have an old print out from your last one they usually show your cost and what insurance paid, so it would be about that.
Please. I wish people wouldn’t talk without confirming. Although Fentanyl is more powerful than morphine by about seven times, it does come in many different strengths in relation to the patch s well as tablets and I’ve meds. The lowest patch being 12.5, next 25 mcg, 50 mcg etc. all the way up to a 200 mcg patch. And yes Actually cut and paid for by cash is completely unaffordable. Your doctor most likely has you on the patch because you need around-the-clock pain medication. If you have not tried MS Contin, you should speak with your doctor about that as that also comes in many strengths and can work just as well as the patch Of fentanyl

Fentanyl is the BEST pain medication out there. As for being habit forming, ALL narcotic-based pain meds are, and as a matter of fact, oxycodone is even more addictive. I have suffered pain for many years now and have tried it all... Fentanyl is your best bet. Just make sure your doc ups your dose until you are pain free or almost pain free, slowly. You can easily die from ANY good pain medication. Take is slow, live longer.
Sir,
Fentanyl is the strongest opiate available except Norfentanyl which is 50 times stronger then Fentanyl. You want my advice try lowering your opiate intake and see if you feel better. These drugs aren’t suppose to be taken long term and eventually your brain sees opiates as a poison as it’s not natural and it causes more pain. I didn’t believe it either. After coming off Fentanyl 100mcg. I am on 2 mg hydromorphone cr and I’m not screaming in pain. Really surprised me. There comes a time when it’s try to lower the Meds and let the body do its thing.
I’m not saying stop opiates but turn them down and after 30 years of high doses of every pain med possible. I feel good but go down slowly.

No MS Continue the new formula is plastic, dies not digest and cones out in your stool. Watch some utube videos and see. That's why insurance will pay for brand name because they know it's garbage.
