Pain Management Drs

Colorado need a good dr one that actually cares what u say/feel that is not scared to do pain management and won't make me take crap like cymbalta (which almost killed me but dr insisted benifits out weighed side effects) (also quit smokin cigs and cannabis cuz dr INSISTED that was reason I had pain) FED UP IN COLORADO I'M BROKEN N HURTIN IS BULLS***....

Hello, Jodi! How are you? Sorry about the problems that you're having.

However, the days of any doctor prescribing stuff, without trying other non-narcotic options first are over. New regulations were put in place this year that makes it even harder for them.

Do you have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That would most likely be the fastest and easiest way to get the help you need.

What problem did you have with the Cymbalta?

I know of a place in Colorado..I live here too. {edited for privacy}. It's not the normal clinic. ... I've suffered 14 years, last 7 have been the worst! I've put up with every d*** head doctor in this state!!! I'm disabled for life and wish to god I was dead not living the hell I am. I have learned each state is different and Mexico isn't a far drive for us!! If I have to, I will go there myself this week!

I am in serious need of finding a doctor who will legitimately work with me in taking pain meds. Im so tired of being made to feel like I'm doing something wrong when I'm just trying to take care of myself. I would love to find a doc in the Ft Collins/Loveland area, but will drive to Denver if I have to!!!

Jodi, I feel your pain! I had a great doctor who was a great listener & prescribed what they let I needed after years of procedures, surgeries, etc. The "bad apples" have ruined it for those of us who truly are in need. It doesn't help that the DEA is after the pain mgmt field. That's why most pain mg,t clinics are focused on getting people off pain meds or stop doing pain mgmt all together. It also doesn't help that some doctor (probably one who has never needed pain mgmt!) to write an article to the medical field that most people do not benefit from taking more than the equivalent of 120mg of morphine a day. Not that every person is differnt or that they react to pain meds differently or that they react differently to different pain meds, or even that people freakin weigh different weights & pain meds (like all other meds) should be measured by a person weight! (A 25MCG Fentanyl patch would be stronger on someone who weights 100 lbs to a person who weights over 200 lbs.!) If anyone does respond with a name of a great doctor, please repost! There are many in the same crapola oat your in. Thanks!

BTW...Cymbalta & Lyrica suck! I had a horrible reaction to the Cymbalta & then on Lyrica, I gained 80 lbs in 4 months. If you've been prescribed Lyrica, watch out! Gaining weight was just one of the many bad side effects it has.
