I have Sciatica, Spondeliosis, Degenerative Disc Disease and Fibromyalgia in both my hips & legs, I have had 3 sets of nerve blocker injections that did not help. I had a herniated disc, in my lower back, (scar tissue has entrapped nerve in it), intractable back pain, I have been falling a lot at home or if I am out somewhere. I get very confused and short term memory is really getting bad which is a symptom of Fibromyalgia, I don't want to go anywhere, I rarely see my friends. I feel like my feet and legs are running and my body is not catching up. I have also last year had left shoulder surgery for small tear in rotator cuff, bone spurs leaning on rotator cuff, osteoarthritis and fluid around the arthritis, 1 month after this surgery: I have what feels like electricity shocks from my upper arm all the way down to my fingers. My left arm is literally useless. It is extremely hard for me to walk sometimes or even sit for any length of time. I am very depressed and cry a lot. I have applied for Social security Disability, denied twice and had a hearing which is under appeal at this time. I am taking Cymbalta 120 mg a day, Clonazepam 1 mg 3 x a day, Gabapentin 300 mg 1 per day, Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 10/325 one tablet six times per day and amitriptyline 150mg at bedtime.
Debbie, no I have referred since my work injury in the 90's over 10,000 suicidal pain patients throughout the world (am a nurse and researcher). I noted originally there were 2 physicians--one has since retired. There were complaints of writing too much medications by a few family members have heard the remaining physician may retire in the next few years.
P450 I have went thru the same thing .I had a awesome Dr in Arlington Va who loved an cared about his patients an the DEA messed with him so much that he Retired .They wanted him to stop writing for oxycodone . He refused saying some of his Patients needed this drug . Have you went to the Dr u mentioned to me in Weyers Cave
I read all your messages today I'm going to call out there to that Dr u recommended an see how much the gist an see if they take my insurance an if they are willing to prescribe my mess I will keep u updated
Debbie I am if you have not jumped around to the other areas to read my messages a professional nurse with a catastrophic injury (90's) and within 2 months of the injury was started on LA medication. Therefore I have needed in order I do not return to organ failure and die need treatment immediately. Due to my P450 there are only specific medications and no pills that work. Anyone on LA in particular for over 5 years is physically tolerant.
Debbie I have the genetic DNA testing that shows I am an ultra rapid opioid metabolizer. The famous physician I have gone to for 5 years tested all in his practice and unfortunately IT DOES US NO GOOD at this present time politically.
The FDA has never made a statement of limitation on opioid therapy and now that this is being taken seriously (like law) physicians who attempt to provide this for patients will be under fire.
For example in the late 90's any physician investigated by the DEA paid approximately $1,000,000 when their office was entered, the DEA agents identified and showed "cause" and examined records and even (not an arrest but actual charge) for example "over prescribing, poor documentation" and so forth. This amount of money was charged (to my knowledge) was allowed due to high costs of investigation for example is kept by that federal agency. In short, the physician whether proven guilty or not must hire an expensive attorney, perhaps go to jail briefly and post bail the patients are not allowed to see their physician for any period of time etc.
So even people like me with a DNA profile are highly affected. If you have medication and any doctor treating you let them help you titrate down to a more acceptable level until you get help. I am not properly treated at this time and need a physician immediately (long story) but to obtain excellent treatment for what I require and the fact that I've progressed to Central Pain Syndrome which is basically "death at any time due to brain involvement" (irreversible) disallows my dosage which finally stabilized me for 3 years. The rule the FDA has set does not mean a physician cannot go outside, but no physician currently WILL they are hanging us out to dry and we survive or we die..
Debbie the reason I've mentioned them is several family members complained about the higher dosing. Call and ask. Now with the new rules doctors do NOT if they are legitimate take cash pay they require insurance.
Do u know how much they charge for a Visit at the Bailint Clinic I require a high dose a I dot now if they will give me the dose I require
I'm going thru the Same thing I have a high tolerance due to being on Pain Medication for 25 Plus Years
Debbie they rarely do that here but I am waiting for them to clear the message with the exact address which they should put on here for the physician in Weyers Cave. I have plenty of posts to read with my information.
I am in Texas and have been seen for five years by the famous Dr. F. Tennant due to regulations 30 out of state patients of high opioid users (we need the medication on that level due to outcomes of death from pain I am Central Pain Syndrome) and was wondering if that were your situation.
I will than u is there a way we can tal private On here So we. An help one another
I used to go to Dr Rosen who does not take Medicaid. His first visit is close to $500 then 250 but he pulls that s*** if u are a new patient. You go in once a week. He also makes u take counseling at his office. I went there for 5 years then transferred to dr Ghazini who retired.
Debbie most of us regulars tend to post on the one with no location just asking for pain medication. Now Dr. Audet retired there is still his partner but they will help you there; I know your frustration but Virginia is not the best place to have complex pain treated. It was before Dr. Bill was arrested the second time around.

Debbie I need to know this for my own benefit it seems with the new FDA ruling on 120 mg. morphine equivalent that out of state patients which I was for 5 years (Texas to California) are being strictly moved out or so lowered on drugs we are no longer accepted. Also I doubt any physician who does pain management in Virginia will take Medicaid. I am curious as to who you went to in Baltimore as well did you actually go to John Hopkins. I know Portnoy who is quite prestigious was up there but at this point I'm sure he's retired. He used to be on my referral list.
Debbie, Read my post and contact Balint Clinic Virginia is dry they are in Weyers Cave, and please check back and tell us how you made out.
I live near Bowling Green Va .I am desperately need help finding a Pain Mangement Dr in the area or will travel .I am currently taken Oxycodone 30 mg an Estigo 32 Mg which is a extended Form of Diauliuld.I have slipped disc ,Page to disease .Stenoes in my back Past history of Cancer .Im in So much Oain that it's Unbearable to carry out my day If anyone can help me I will be Grateful .I do it abuse my medications Have always followed my Narcotic Contract an have always had clean Urines .Please help I have Medicaid but will pay out of pocket if need be
Virginia People I've recommended Balint Clinic (found Dr. Balint is now retired but Dr. Audet is still there) it is in Weyers, Cave I've posted their information on another link. HOPE is shut down I just read they had MILITARY tactics like finger printing, background checks and apparently were busted in Virginia earlier this year and WV (2 clinics) for Class 2 medications. Virginia is COLD I suggest only Dr. Audet a this time I have to work on my own issues now or will likely die (need immediate physician as I am a P450 ultra rapid opioid metabolizer) I had to go to California from Texas the past 5 years driving across the state is not a problem suggest those in serious intractable pain do so.
I also saw Dr. Smith but hes nolonger in practice and I dont know what to do.
Helene: What is the Dr. name in Williamsburg? Does he take insc? I'm willing to make that drive just so I can have a life with my kids! Please, I'm so desperate, and feel so bad for my kids!
Did u ever find out Williamsburg dr?
From what I've read and I know they do not allow us to post our email address I have also heard of a clinic in Weyers Cove VA that prescribes liberally. There is a Dr. Audet and another anesthesiologist there. They are called Balint Clinic, and due to my own complexity (former Virginian injured working at my alma mater Medical College of Virginia) in 1998 Virginia is now very bad. Ever since Dr. Bill was arrested the second time I am in Texas for many years and literally when my PM in Houston of 10 years died had to go to California the past 5 years. I am a rare case aside from the 4 million issues that makes me catastrophic. I am by the way seeking physicians in East Texas, Louisiana, or anywhere in Texas immediately. When California regulations changed I had to take employer back to VWCC for my physician had to discharge 30 rare cases (the type who literally do die from pain it's insane isn't it) and only because he taught me to always put aside 10% I have not died but am on far too little and need immediate help myself. The Judge again found on my behalf I use instant acting liquid and patches brand only so you can imagine what I have gone through all these years. My first PM was a female DO who now I've heard works with a large corporation of pain clinics so I am presuming since she first put me on Oxycontin back before we knew I was P450 (pills do not work for rapid metabolizers) that those clinics do pain management and they are located in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland. It is more the norm if you do need serious help to consider you get it including out of state. But due to Obama we are all suffering he made sure there were huge shortages on inventory when he came in which drove prices up even more sky high then before, and now has pushed for death of older folks (40 and up) who are chronic in any realm. As a professional nurse I despise what he has done to healthcare in America. I will find the name of this corporate enterprise of pain clinics I know if my first PM is with them now that they are doing good work; I also know if you are like me requiring high dosage opioids and are considering the pump they have access with their own out patient hospitals and physicians performing this and pump fills. Ok it's National Spine and Pain Centers and they have 40 clinics in those 3 states. Hope this helps a bit for ya'll.
