Pain Management Doctor Closed Now What
UpdatedSo my Pain doctor got shut down been going for 15yrs saw about 5 different docs in that span of time. Now I'm trying to find a new one and it's near impossible!! So I was not gonna be stupid and go into withdraws. So I went to a sub doc immediately. Got in right away and Ben on subutex for almost a month while I try and find a new pain doc and it's crazy with all the new laws and South Florida running dry of docs. I find myself not being accepted anywhere. I don't know what to do. A couple of places told me,over the phone theirs no way I. gonna get close to what I've been prescribed for 4 yrs plus now 120 30mg oxycodone IR'S and oxymorphone 30mg ER'S 60!! Now I have an appointment on Fri but nothing is guaranteed that I'm gonna get even close to that. So I'm gonna pay 300 bucks to see the doc that might try and write me for perc 10's n 15mg morphs and waste my time!! And there's only 3 more docs I can try in my 30 mile radius. This is just INSAIN I don't know what to do. The subs just aren't cutting it for the pain. Any suggestions for someone living in the south Florida Ft.Myers area?? Please help

Hi Rawdog,
Sorry to hear about your situation. It's a shame that so many patients are finding themselves in similar situations nowadays, where we have to gamble with several hundred dollars for a doctor to decide if a legitimate patient is worthy enough to receive adequate treatment based on a "5 to 10-minute" meeting (aka, nowhere near the amount of time it takes to truly evaluate and understand the root of the problem, how it's affecting their lives and so forth).
It certainly appears to be just a numbers game to most of these physicians. After all, the insane student loan debt to become a Ph.D. has to be covered by X number of patients. They'll probably get this monthly payment from a few appointments and then they cram in the rest of us to cover their living expenses, overhead costs, vacations, etc.
And this is not to insinuate that all doctors are like this...It's just the nature of the system that's in place that guarantees doctors get a paycheck but fails to guarantee that patients get proper care in the process.
I would just encourage you to continue striding forward in your search until you find the right doctor, because there are good ones out there who do take time to listen to their patients and treat others how they want to be treated.
