They are ashamed of themselves. You dont need to remind them. I was addict. And those who have never been will never undertsand. Its a cycle. Once one is addictive they began to feel ashamed and have so many regrets which makes them depressed and the only way to escape the depression is to use again. Its a ruthless cycle that i wouldnt wish upon my worst enemy.

The OPs make me violently I'll also. I've tried them more then once they made me vomit. But a pain management doctor told me that's a red flag. Well sorry if I'm honest. I know other people who became ill from them. I also know people who did not. I have RSD but theses doctors don't care. The junkies have ruined everything and now I'm going to have to get the medical board and a lawyer involved and I still may be screwed.

The new formula that is used in the "new" pill is so loaded with extras that the oxycodone does not even release from the tab. That is, if it is even in there to start with. The old type worked fine for my pain control and I had been on it for years. Now I have to find another medication that will work with the spinal issues that I have and not make me sick. Pardue, Perdue, what the hell ever they call themselves really caved in to DEA and stuck it to the patients who really need this relief.

It amazes me how people suffering from addiction are so quick to judge those on pain management. Listen... whether you take a pain medication that you know that you will become dependent on is a choice! Taking a prescribed medication to truly treat chronic pain and taking that same pill to "feel" better are two total different things all together. Yes, if you take pain meds, you will become dependent PERIOD. I think what has everyone so upset is the difference of WHY we take it. If your everyday existence is crippled by debilitating pain, and you are prescribed this medication so that you may live a normal life... is a big contrast to those who willingly take the medication by purchasing it rather than prescibed, and taking it not to deal just with physical pain, but ABUSE it to feel high.... well that's the difference. It is not fair that people who need it to function have to loose this because some people who do not need it, abuse it for the wrong reason. We are all addicted...no one can argue, but the argument is to those addicts who have lost control and essentially ruined it for the ones who need it because they are using it for the wrong reason? STOP THE HATE! WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT!

I filled my oxycontin medication today. When I checked the medication and found out half my prescription said op and the other half said oc. What is the difference? Why are they changing it again? Is there a way to get in touch with someone that can make a positive change? Please help and don't make me go through the suffering of changing meds. Thank you!

You know nothing about addiction, your hostility towards the addict suggests you are one. Good day and good luck

Samantha, sadly, you & I have had the same (HORRIFIC) experiences that continue to affect me to this day. I actually have "Complex PTSD" caused by the actions of my child molester of a "father", not to mention being raped when I was 13 years old by a drunken, 18 year old "friend" of my brother's. I may not know you but I want to let you know I'm proud of you. You, me... & other survivors of such trauma, are extremely strong individuals. You don't know how many nights, as a child, I would cry myself to sleep after praying to GOD & BEGGING Him to take my life as I slept. NO child should EVER be made to feel like that; for me.. I just wanted so badly to stop hurting (Mentally & Emotionally). I now have 3 daughters of my own and I consider myself blessed, although the pain of my past remains. GOD bless you! :-)

I have been taking Oxycontin for over 6 years now. The me OP made me ill and vomit....meds and all, so in effect, I'm not getting any pain relief. My Dr. Wrote my scrip for IM, and I was told by Walgreens Pharmacy that this form is no longer manufactured because addicts were abusing them....but what about the people who depend on them for real medical needs? Now I can't get any pain relief. When are they going to realize that it's not the patients who abuse them, it's the addict looking to use anything in anyway to feel high! Real patients are monitored closely by doctors. There was no reason to change the way it's administered for those who truly need it. This is just a ploy by drug companies to "end the abuse". I'm sure if the person who came up with this great idea isn't living with chronic, debilitating pain! Dr. are spores to help patients....not blame them for needing meds to live lives without debilitating pain. This will not fix the drug epidemic...addicts will find another way, or another drug. Stop the suffering!! Listen to the people who truly need relief from pain...not life!!!

All these new time release drugs don't work half as well as they use to! I like many was forced to change to Xtampza ER instead of the OxyContin neither drugs work well enough to kill the pain like they use to and the Xtampza only works for about 7-8 hrs know way near the 12its made to

To those patient's who claim to not abuse nor misuse your oxycontin but chew them for faster releif..dear..you are abusing them. You must not chew or crush them..it's vital you follow the direction's. Crushing them floods your body with entire dose of oxycodone..this is very dangerous!! Also i have studied that if one gets their amino acids (omega oil) and other nutrient's that keeps brain chemistry healthy..this will help make pain med work effeciently and allow you to not have to up your dose. Exercise helps..there is always hope that in future something will be invented to heal degenerate disc and we longer will have to live on narcotic pain pill's.

I know this is an old post but whatever. The so called "side effects" that people are "getting from the ops" are not what you think. You are actually addicted to the old Oxys and you are actually experiencing withdrawal. So many people post about this and are unaware that they actually are very physically and mentally dependent on the old Oxys. So they get as sick as any other other person who takes them, even recreationally. They are called "junkies" which is sad because everyone who takes them all the time is the same. All addicted. Some are just in denial because they are prescribed. You will instantly feel better if you take another opiate. That's why "junkies" do anything to get their fix. Now you see how painful it can be to not have your medicine. It gets worse and worse each day. Good luck to all.

Read what I posted about the fact that you are going through withdrawals. The new medicine isn't making you sick. The time release just isn't giving you enough medicine. You are physically dependent on your old medicine. Just like anyone else who takes them a lot. Even "junkies". That's the world of addiction. Withdrawals are debilitating. I'm sure you know this by now.

Whether yall like it or not, you are all addicted. Doesn't mean you abuse it. But you are physically and mentally dependent on your pill. And you are sick when you don't have it. So don't judge anyone. We are all human beings and everyone is addicted to something in this world. Whether it's pharmaceuticals, street drugs, food, alcohol, cigs, abuse... It's all part of this world. So quit the judgment and instead look inside of yourself. You are complaining about medication. Addiction gets the people without them even knowing it sometimes. Prescribed or not, you are hooked.

I have been taking oxycontin for many years now for severe neck to lower back trama. The name brand is what was more effeicient in the delivery system. Can any assure me that the new formula will deliver the needed amount over the 12 hr period? And i am very concerned with the additives..my understanding that 2 of them are carcingens and in talking with other pain patients taking the new they are telling of not being able to digest the medicine and no delivery of medication..in fact they go into withdrawal as well as vomiting and bad stomack pain. I can't imagine going through this for an entire month.
