Oxycontin Op 30 Mg
UpdatedI've been taking oxycontin 30mg with oc on them - this time i got oxycontin 30 with op on them and they seem to make me sick. What is the difference?
Oxycontin OP is brand new to the market and is replacing the regular Oxycontin.
The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties.
Otherwise, it works the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I am not certain why it would be making you sick, as compared to the other ones, have you tried contacting your doctor or pharmacist about it?

the new pill u are now getting is a new formula of the old oc and is supposed to be tamper proof so people cant abuse them, and claims to be the exact same. Go to purdue pharma and search it there and it tells you all about it
I have been taking oxycontin for 7 years an it has been a lifesaver. The first few years i tried all the generics and in all truthfulness they did not work ,made me feel ill. I stuck to the name brand and no problem. Now they changed it and i'm livid. Now i get to take in a group 2 carcingen..titanuim dioxide..with the new formula and i don't think i will even be able to digest it.
I have been taking oxycontin for many years now for severe neck to lower back trama. The name brand is what was more effeicient in the delivery system. Can any assure me that the new formula will deliver the needed amount over the 12 hr period? And i am very concerned with the additives..my understanding that 2 of them are carcingens and in talking with other pain patients taking the new they are telling of not being able to digest the medicine and no delivery of medication..in fact they go into withdrawal as well as vomiting and bad stomack pain. I can't imagine going through this for an entire month.
I experienced the same thing with these new pills. I actually called Perdue (the manufactorer) of Oxycontin and was told by their Pharmasist that there are alot of different ingrediants in these new pills, that may be causing the nasuea/vomitting. I will be talking to my Dr. tomorrow to get my pain meds switched to another medicine that keeps my pain away, while not making me sick!!
Thank god for Purdue smartening up. There are too many indivuduals who are abusing Oxys, and dying from this. In essence for those unfortunate individuals who really need the medication, it has affected them. Great idea with the new formulation. Oxy OP's. And for all you addicts you should be ashamed of yourself. Get yorself into rehab.
I filled my oxycontin medication today. When I checked the medication and found out half my prescription said op and the other half said oc. What is the difference? Why are they changing it again? Is there a way to get in touch with someone that can make a positive change? Please help and don't make me go through the suffering of changing meds. Thank you!
I refilled my 30mg oxy this month and was given the op type. They do not release the same, nor do they sit well in the stomach. I feel sick from them and taking them 3 times a day is not helping with my pain as were the oc brand. With the properties being different and the release different they act more like a generic which did not work well and that is why I was taking name brand for many years now. These were the only things that helped with my pain...now who knows what I can do. CRPS does not go away that I have bi-lateral in my arms nor does OA of both my knees and the oxy oc was what had helped with the pain. At least I have some morphine to also fall back on from my doctor along with it. Help us all now to find something to give us relief!
I have some questions about the new OP formulation. When I take my Oxycoontic I don't abuse or missuse it to any great deal (comparatively that is, based on some of the crap I've read people do). I just chew mine up to get it working faster. My metabolisim is screwed up and if I don't the time released part of them make it so they don't release fully before they pass thru me. So can I chew these new OPs up and will they work like the OC's did?
To those patient's who claim to not abuse nor misuse your oxycontin but chew them for faster releif..dear..you are abusing them. You must not chew or crush them..it's vital you follow the direction's. Crushing them floods your body with entire dose of oxycodone..this is very dangerous!! Also i have studied that if one gets their amino acids (omega oil) and other nutrient's that keeps brain chemistry healthy..this will help make pain med work effeciently and allow you to not have to up your dose. Exercise helps..there is always hope that in future something will be invented to heal degenerate disc and we longer will have to live on narcotic pain pill's.
my husband has been on the oxy 80 for years and now they have changed tto these op they do not time release correctly he has more pain in his legs especially at night he has to take more his roxicet 30 to help with the pain but it isnt the same have heard everyone is having their doctors wriite hem something else i guess that is what my husband will doing also cause he can not stand the pain purdue will loseing out not us
is ther any way to change the new formula to the old formula so i can chew them again
I was using oxycontin oc two years before the switch to the op's. I had my pain management doctor switch me to something else because the oxycontin op was giving me severe reflux/ulcer symptoms. The new formula actually worked better then the old formula. I actually take omega 3 supplements as I read in previous post, this will cause the medicine to work better. I didn't want the oxycontin op to burn a hole in my stomach, so I switched. I'm feeling much better now with no reflux/ulcer symptoms.
I think they work just as good but I dont shoot mine so maybe thats why they do me ok. The only problem I seen was it took a tad bit longer to help but just by a hr or so. I do however chew mine because I always have..I can't swallow pills. People are not stupid for doing so because for elderly people some of them just like me cant swallow pills they buy crushers to put them in their food or drink. But yeah they work just as good for me but for you people who take them daily ( I dont, only if I'm in bad pain) or the shooters or snorters well I know why your complaing cuz I used to be a snorter of drugs but not any more. I've been clean along time. I used to shoot (not oxy but diulada) I used to snort so I know what your going through I guess. I never shot oc's cuz even though with the old ones you can take the coating off they still gell up and I watched my uncle die from I clogged atery in many places from the old pill and he was a expert drug abuser. Shooting is stupid I have done it so I can say it. Those of you who never done it well unless you have been there stop complaing about others. You dont know what drove them to it. I gave up on life for the year that I shot up and honestly I didnt care about myself or others. I lost my family b4 I shot up I must add, grew up being molested, got rapped at 4 a remeber every detail. I dont want anyones pitty so thats not why im telling you this. I figured since I lost everything what did I have to lose and the truth is I didnt lose anything more I was smart and was very clean about it (well I shot up so thats not clean in somes eyes but I never shared a needle or used the same one twice..although I did go to walgreens and they were very understanding they sold me needles cuz of hep c epidemics so im smart. I did quit and honestly i had no need to do it again. The oc's I started recently but im smarter than I used to be lol. even if they were shootable I wouldnt cuz i dont want the hassel or get dirty looks cuz idiots thinkin im the typical junky...
TONY you dont sound like your in searing pain as I so keep it shut! I swallow the OPs and they dont work. ive never misused them as they can cause the foolowing;OxyContin consists of a dual-polymer matrix, intended for oral use only. Abuse of the crushed tablet poses a hazard of overdose and death. This risk is increased with concurrent abuse of alcohol and other substances. With parenteral abuse-IV, the tablet excipients, especially talc, can be expected to result in local tissue necrosis (death), infection, pulmonary granulomas (Lung masses), and increased risk of endocarditis (enlarged heart) and valvular heart injury.
Why dont you stick it.
Switch to oxycodone 30 mg...no time release there then you all can do what y'all do..
Those who are complaining. Are obviously the ones abusing it.
Obviously you dont have severe pain. Excersise is alwayss peopls answers. I have two plastic discs and fibromyalgia and was on ocs for years then the op came out and tbey were useless so I dropped them and went to opana and have never been mo
re pain free. Excercise was excrutiating. Its not the answer for everyone. Chewing up ur pills does not make u an abuser. I chew asprin forr.christ sake
Bravo! My thoughts exactly. Go find something else if you want to abuse them. The new way Perdue is making oxy contin works great! Of course I have real issues (4 missing discs being one) and it works for me.

All these new time release drugs don't work half as well as they use to! I like many was forced to change to Xtampza ER instead of the OxyContin neither drugs work well enough to kill the pain like they use to and the Xtampza only works for about 7-8 hrs know way near the 12its made to
Re: Tony (# 6)
What makes you think anyone posting here is an addict? That's pretty asinine of you Tony!! God forbid you suffer any "real" pain in your life!! Did you grow up a momma's boy? Sheltered from skinning your little knees, or head?!
"Don't judge, lest yee be judged".
I was told there are "Oxycontin a" and "Oxycontin m" 30 mg. What is the difference between the two pills?
It amazes me how people suffering from addiction are so quick to judge those on pain management. Listen... whether you take a pain medication that you know that you will become dependent on is a choice! Taking a prescribed medication to truly treat chronic pain and taking that same pill to "feel" better are two total different things all together. Yes, if you take pain meds, you will become dependent PERIOD. I think what has everyone so upset is the difference of WHY we take it. If your everyday existence is crippled by debilitating pain, and you are prescribed this medication so that you may live a normal life... is a big contrast to those who willingly take the medication by purchasing it rather than prescibed, and taking it not to deal just with physical pain, but ABUSE it to feel high.... well that's the difference. It is not fair that people who need it to function have to loose this because some people who do not need it, abuse it for the wrong reason. We are all addicted...no one can argue, but the argument is to those addicts who have lost control and essentially ruined it for the ones who need it because they are using it for the wrong reason? STOP THE HATE! WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME BOAT!
Op will make you sick on purpose or tamper proof so you don't kill your self , (at least that's what i fugered out
I have been taking Oxycontin for over 6 years now. The me OP made me ill and vomit....meds and all, so in effect, I'm not getting any pain relief. My Dr. Wrote my scrip for IM, and I was told by Walgreens Pharmacy that this form is no longer manufactured because addicts were abusing them....but what about the people who depend on them for real medical needs? Now I can't get any pain relief. When are they going to realize that it's not the patients who abuse them, it's the addict looking to use anything in anyway to feel high! Real patients are monitored closely by doctors. There was no reason to change the way it's administered for those who truly need it. This is just a ploy by drug companies to "end the abuse". I'm sure if the person who came up with this great idea isn't living with chronic, debilitating pain! Dr. are spores to help patients....not blame them for needing meds to live lives without debilitating pain. This will not fix the drug epidemic...addicts will find another way, or another drug. Stop the suffering!! Listen to the people who truly need relief from pain...not life!!!
Whether yall like it or not, you are all addicted. Doesn't mean you abuse it. But you are physically and mentally dependent on your pill. And you are sick when you don't have it. So don't judge anyone. We are all human beings and everyone is addicted to something in this world. Whether it's pharmaceuticals, street drugs, food, alcohol, cigs, abuse... It's all part of this world. So quit the judgment and instead look inside of yourself. You are complaining about medication. Addiction gets the people without them even knowing it sometimes. Prescribed or not, you are hooked.
Read what I posted about the fact that you are going through withdrawals. The new medicine isn't making you sick. The time release just isn't giving you enough medicine. You are physically dependent on your old medicine. Just like anyone else who takes them a lot. Even "junkies". That's the world of addiction. Withdrawals are debilitating. I'm sure you know this by now.
I know this is an old post but whatever. The so called "side effects" that people are "getting from the ops" are not what you think. You are actually addicted to the old Oxys and you are actually experiencing withdrawal. So many people post about this and are unaware that they actually are very physically and mentally dependent on the old Oxys. So they get as sick as any other other person who takes them, even recreationally. They are called "junkies" which is sad because everyone who takes them all the time is the same. All addicted. Some are just in denial because they are prescribed. You will instantly feel better if you take another opiate. That's why "junkies" do anything to get their fix. Now you see how painful it can be to not have your medicine. It gets worse and worse each day. Good luck to all.
TO: "Totsmomma" AMEN Honey! Yu hit the nail on the head! GOD bless you dear!
