Oxycontin Not Providing It's Usual Relief (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking oxycontin and oxycodone for the nearly 7 years. I have RSD/CRPS. I did have it in both legs with gross swelling. The burning sensation is indescribable and I am a 10 on the McGill Pain Index. I am fortunate that the pain is only in my right leg at this time. We, RSD, have a bulletin that is put out monthly. Currently we have no major movie stars suffering from this disease with the exceptions of( Paula Abdul and Audrey John-Celebrity Chef) so we get very little attention. It is an invisible disease that lacks the medical backing it deserve. It also ranks extremely high in the suicide category. I am lucky to have found a Dr who was very informed when it comes to this disease. Now I will get off my soap box. Anyone taking oxycontin is aware Purdue Pharma has a monopoly on the drug. And I'm sure you are aware of the "rubberized" outside coating. The last time I went to the pharmacy I picked up my 90 80mg oxycontin as usual. They appeared to be more wafer thin than the last bottle I had. I had a few left from the last month and they were actually "slimmer!" I took them as I always do and immediately had problems. Mostly I thought I was suffering from GERD's. I had a horrible burning within ten minutes of taking and I felt nauseated. This could go on for hours. Also I am taking a 12 hour pill that is working about 4 hours. Nothing changed day after day I had the burning, nausea, and short term pain relief. After much thought, because you become paranoid of rocking the boat when it comes to this medication, I gave in and called Purdue 888-726-7535 ext 3, and explained the entire thing to product performance. They are looking into the lot number. They did ask me if others had complained, but I assured her we did not stand around in my part of the country and discuss oxycontin! I ask for assurance that this would not cause a problem in the future in obtaining my medications and further, ask if I could record her answer. I was allowed to. I have heard from quality control since that time and have received 4 apologies which does not help the quality of the pills I am taking. If anyone else out there is having the same problems I urge you to at least make a record of your problem. I ask if there had been any problems with specific lots in the past. That is when the answers became vague, I was still recording. For the record she did indicate that some persons have more problems adjusting to new formulary. I am tired of hurting, I am tired of over paying, I am tired of hunting down a pharmacy to fill my oxy RX's, and I am tired in general. This war on oxy's is a success at making people with very real, very painful problems lose Dr.'s that no longer want to be involved and pharmacies that do not want chronic pain patients as customers. The last page of our bulletin now has donations given in memory of the victims of the war on Oxy's. Every month the number keeps growing.

Posting to message I posted about poor performing oxycontin. I was given separate pills, yellow 40, red 60, green 80 mg oxycontin and 30 mg oxycodone by Dr., I had a problem with oxycontin sticking in my throat and not getting reliable pain relief, except with the 30mg uncoated which worked in 20 min and lasted 4 hours. Results were sent certified to Purdue. They are not telling us if anyone else is having a problem. Are any of you????
@Ihatethis, How's it going? I'm very sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with these different versions of oxycodone. While I'm not a pain patient myself, I have seen a large number of people on this site complain about the lack of efficacy from certain manufacturers, including Purdue.
You may be able to get a better idea of what these other oxycodone patients are going through with Purdue, by visiting the links below:
