Oxycontin Doctor 15137

I have lupus antiphospholipid syndrome,severe neuropathy,chronic severe pain. I have been on oxycontin and cortisone for ten years. I've had clot in Lund and lost most of right hand. These medications have not removed all pain but in ten years I have lowered my own dose twice and never asked for it to be increased. If it were not for this medication the pain would prevent me from being active. I was in army 10 years and scuba dived parasailing, white water rafting, I have always been active. I've had to stop some activities, but the worse thing to happen to me would have to be laying in bed, it would cause me to die quickly, activity is keeping me as healthy as I can be. I have never misused my medication and don't intend to. Unfortunately for insurance reasons, I was sent to a new PvP who sent me to a pain clinic who wants to change my meds. I've been married 22 years to a police detective who has seen what not taking my meds does to me and he is as frightened of losing his wife as I am of not being able to do things with my 19 year old who graduated in 98%,and my 14 year old who has all As and Be. My older son is in Michigan now working and school and minus my meds, I won't see him. I don't know what to do, I need a doctor that will fight for me and not be wrapped up in red tape. Please help find a doctor.

I just finished reading your story and I'm truly sorry to hear about the debilitating challenges you're facing. Being an active outdoorsy person myself, I too, know how frustrating it can be when you're not able to get the exercise your body needs in order to thrive. You mentioned that you've been on the oxycodone and cortisone for ten years now. What other medications are they trying to switch you over to at the pain clinic?

I understand that you're looking for a new doctor because of this predicament, but I'd also be curious to know if there were any other types of treatment/healing modalities that have been considered as a form of adjunctive therapy (such as essential oils, acupuncture, herbal preparations, chinese medicine, etc.)?

From my own experience, I honestly think that these kinds of remedies are worth looking into if you find the pharmaceuticals/doctor shopping/copays/etc to be too much of a hassle on their own. However it seems like your best bet would be to just ask for another referral from the pain clinic if all else fails.
