Oxycontin And Dilaudid

A dear friend recently died while in the hospital after receiving oxycontin 20mg and dilaudid 4mg within 19 minutes of each other does anyone know if that would be a lethal dose contributing to her death? Any information would help. Thank you

Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm very sorry for your loss.

But no, it isn't likely, neither of those are high doses.

What was she being treated for? If she had some condition that caused depression of her central nervous system, these medications could worsen that and may contribute. Alternatively, there's a chance she may have been allergic to something.

What was her death attributed to?

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
