Oxycodone, Withdrawal, Tolerance

Hi, I suffer from chronic pain (lumbar spine) and see a pain management doctor. I've been on medication this time for about 10 months, before that I had about 8 months off of everything following 1 year of taking them. I'm looking for some answers about my current dose of Oxycodone, I'm wondering if my dose is considered normal or on the high side and also what side effects other people have experienced on OxyContin & Percocet. I am thinking that I may want to get off of it and wondering if it's best to taper down or just stop. And if taper down how would i do that. Really I have a lot of questions and would love someone who knows about this stuff to respond. I have googled a million times but never find a thread that is active. I have also tried to talk to my doctor but they are always in a rush and not very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for responding. I take OxyContin 60 mg 3x day, and Percocet 10/325 6x day.
Hello, Claire77! How are you doing? I'm happy to help, if I can.
What dose are you currently taking? You forgot to mention it.
The FDA warns that Oxycodone does carry the risk of being habit forming and its typical side effects may possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, drowsiness, and constipation. All of which I suffered from, when I was on it.
And yes, it is best to taper, since abruptly stopping it may cause some withdrawal effects that can include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, depression, diarrhea and rebound pain.
Tapering is frequently done by gradually lowering the dose, while lengthening the time span between doses.
