Oxycodone Withdrawal 30 Mg Day
UpdatedI suffer from cluster attacks. My Dr has tried everything under the sun to try to treat them. They are chronic, lasting a year now with no more than a 2 or 3 day break. I usually have one during the day at 10:45 am and 2 at night. Once 1.5 hours after falling asleep and another 1.5 hours after falling asleep after the 1st night time one finishes. The day time one lasts for 30-90 minutes and both night time attacks last 2-3 1/2 hours. 3 days ago, while at his office at 11:45 I had one right there in his office. He performed 2 sphenocaths and gave me a shot of Torrodol with no effect. He has in the past prescribed me many headache treatments all designed for migraines, I think he's finally realizing that cluster attacks are not migraines. Anyway, after spending 3 hours in his office 3 days ago, trying like I said 3 treatments, he gave me a shot of demerol, which barely took the edge off. On the pain scale I was at a 9/10 and after the 50mg of demerol I was at a 7/10. Still barely tolerable, but not completely intolerable like 9/10 pain. So at the end of the visit, he prescribed me 25 percocet 10mg/325mg apap. That night I had my usual 2 attacks, and immediately took 1 tablet as soon as the pain woke me up. 30 minutes later my pain went from 9/10 to 5/10, which doe 's not allow me to sleep, but it is tolerable. I can deal with that. It worked both times, and my daytime one, I took one as soon as I felt the sensation in my eye socket that one was coming on, but that one only lasted 15 minutes so I don't think it kicked in before the Cluster attack resolved on its own. The next 2 days all 3 attacks have lasted more than an hour and the percocet has worked to lower my pain down to 4 or 5/10. My concern is, if I'm taking 10mg of oxycodone 2-3 times a day that I will become dependent on them, on the other hand, with the exception of breathing pure oxygen for 20 minutes avoiding maybe 4 or 5 out of 100 attacks, the percocet has been the first thing to ever relieve any pain from the clusters. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, Bill! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're so miserable! I have a friend that gets them, as well, and he hasn't found much that's helped, either.
Yes, it is normal to become dependent on such a medication, if you're taking it regularly, they can be habit forming. But that's not the same as being addicted, which comes with abuse of such a medication.
It may also be a better idea to take one, before you go to sleep, to see if it can prevent it from starting, if your doctor approves of your trying it this way. Sometimes prevention works much better for some people.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic which may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Does anyone else have any advice to offer?
