Oxycodone Pricing

oxycodone prices have doubled in less than 30 days in tenn. rumor has it that the manufacturers ,being top 8 have been sold an now there is only 1 producer of this product!

It's not that there is only one manufacturer, now. That is only relevant to the name brand time released product, Oxycontin.

The current problem stems from the fact that each year the DEA sets a manufacturing limit on how much of any controlled substance can be made and distributed. The figure is based on prior year prescriptions, as well as information from the FDA and the manufacturers, once the total amount is determined, it is split between the manufacturers.

Usually, this gives a very good idea of how much the market will demand in the upcoming year and helps minimize how much is out there to be stolen and diverted. However, in any given year, if the number of prescriptions rise severely and/or there is a lot of theft and diversion, then it can create a shortage towards the end of the year.

Production will return to normal in January.
