Oxycodone Op Vs Oc

This month I have been getting the pain relief from my Oxycontin as before. I am now informed that they hanged the formula from OC to OP and that the OP do not contain Narcan. What am I supposed to do when I am no longer getting the relief I had before. I don't want to have to go to the higher dose just to get the same relief. I had to fight the insurance company for what I was getting before.

That is correct, the new Oxycontin OP does not contain Narcan, however, if someone tries to misuse the medication, it does turn into a gummy substance that retains its time released properties.

This formulation change has resulted in many complaints that it does not work as well as the old formulation and causes off side effects. We have had many posts regarding this, for the past several months.

I suggest reporting the problem to both Purdue and the FDA at the following numbers:

Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:

888.726.7535

FDA MedWatch number:

800-332-1088

As to what you are supposed to do, I don't really have an answer for you. You should discuss it with your doctor and weight your options according to what may help and what your insurance will cover.

Maybe there is some other medication you can add, that it will cover, to take in addition to the Oxycontin.

Have you tried discussing this with your doctor, yet?
