Oxycodone Mg Restriction Florida

I am a chronic back pain sufferer, relocated to Florida to live with my parents bc I lost my home from being unable to work bc of on the job injury that my employer won't take responsibility for. I was on 75 mg oxycodone in sc but my doctor here in Florida says that I cannot get but 60 mg a day unless I'm a cancer patient. Is there restrictions on back pain patients?

The DEA did put forth some new directives asking doctors to restrict opiates to no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day and some states took it upon themselves to lower that even further to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine a day. The only exceptions are for those with intractable pain from a possibly fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer.

At 60mgs of Oxycodone, you're currently taking the equivalent of 90mgs of Morphine, thus there's not much more your doctor can prescribe.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
