Oxycodone Hcl 5mg Tablet Vs Narco

My doctor has just switched me from oxycodone HLC five MG tablets to Norco which also contains acetaminophen. I have been taking Tylenol with the oxycodone and I understand I should stop that medicine prior to taking the Norco.
Is the Norco a milder medication and the oxycodone? What are the differences?

Hi Jim,

I'm not one to speak from personal experience, so I'll leave the more concrete details to others who've already tried both. However, according to several reviews I've come across, Hydrocodone is said to be a much milder (sedating) medication than Oxycodone with regards to potency and overall stimulation.

Some people may find the sedating properties of Hydrocodone more suitable for their situation, but I think it really just comes down to personal preference in that sense, as there are some brands/generics that may be more or less effective depending on the manufacturer.

On a side note, I do agree with you that it would be wise to stop taking additional amounts of Tylenol (for the sake of your liver), since it will be present in those Norco tablets at the largest safe dose possible (the new standard being 325mgs as of Jan 2014).
