Oxycodone-acetaminophen 5-325 And Trazadone 100 Mg

I just had a bunionectomy today and the doctor have me oxycodone - acetaminophen 5-325 and meloxicam for pain and inflammation. I have already been taking the trazadone 100mg for sleep at night. In the mornings I take effexor for depression and topiramate for migraines. Please let me knowif ii can take the pain mes with the trazadone

Based on my research there are potentially unsafe drug interactions listed between Oxycodone and Trazodone; as well as Effexor (venlafaxine) and Trazodone. Apparently, taking either of these drug combinations together can increase your risk of developing serious symptoms associated with serotonin syndrome.

Due to the severe nature of serotonin syndrome, it sounds like your best bet would be to sit down with your doctor and talk about these concerning interactions before moving forward with your treatment. Often times doctors don't want to take the extra time to explain these things to their patients, in order to fit in as many appointments as possible. However this is very unethical in my opinion, since people can and probably have died from many serious drug interactions that they weren't otherwise aware of.
