Oxycodone Maximum Dose

I get 180 Oxycodine 30mg each month. Is there some law that the doctor can't prescribe more than 1 per 4 hrs? That comes to 180 per month. I would like to take about 2 more per day. I don't have a pain management program, I guess I don't need one. What's the max the Doctor can prescribe? Or should I just
ask him to add some dilaudid? Will the dilaudid compliment the OXY?
Oh Yea, don't try this at home, I have stage 3 colon cancer.

Yes, there are limits on how much he can prescribe. He can write for the maximum daily amount for 30 days and that's the highest it can go.

However, there are other options, you could ask them about adding Dilaudid, as you mentioned, or you can up the dosage of this, switch to the time released or do a combination of both, such as taking the time released Oxycontin and then having a regular release a few times a day for breakthrough pain.

Another option would be the Fentanyl patch, it's a narcotic that's over 80 times stronger than Morphine, which is in a time release patch that lasts 48 to 72 hours, depending on your pain levels.

Yes they won't allow anymore then 120 tablets for a 30 day supply they just lowered my mother from #150 to #120 .
I can't see how they can tell a Dr what their patient needs and doesn't need for pain everyone is different as are pain thresholds
Aswell as diognoses. Then approve that new super drug for pain that makes the oc 80 look like a daily vitamin? ?? Don't get it

Mac, that seems wrong that they cut you mom's quantity down from 150 oxy to 120
oxy. ( maybe they raise the MG per tablet? ) Is it an Insurance issue? I know you can get 180 oxycodone IR per month, because that's what I get and regular rx Insurance covers it.

I wanted to see if my doctor could write take 1-2 every 4 hrs with a monthly quantity to raise from 180 to 240. He did, instead give me 2mg (Quantity 30 ) Dilaudid.

This combo made me a bit dizzy and with nausea. Also My Oxycodone seemed like now I needed it more often. With me- this is a bad combo. Just increasing my Oxy would have been a better bet. That why I wondered if there were a law against writing more than the manufacture recommended ? I know my insurance covers 180 and I would have to work out a plan to pay the 60 uncovered tablets.

No not insurance issue that's just the new limit they imposed in Massachusetts anyway not sure if national but probably soon will be. I was diognosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy have 10 mil perk. And had fentenl patch didn't work felt no better had one fall off didn't know have never been so drug sick in my life. Asked to come off the patches and raise mg of perk to 30 mg 3 to 4 a day that seems to be only thing that works and allows me to function took me off patch won't raise mg on pills I don't get it I came off something far stronger so what's the problem? Sucks being sick all the time and at someone else's mercy .......

Wat state u live in cause I get 2 tablets 3 times a day an 1 tablet at bedtime of roxicodone 30mg for break threw pain and 2 tablets 3 times a day of methadone 10mg for extended release and 3 tablets of soma 350 mg every 8 hours for my muscle spasms I have 3 herniated discs in my back and my dr was suggested if I would want to try the prescription Marijuana he has been telling me ever since he got certified, to write it a lot of patience say it helps out a lot more was wondering what you thought about that

I'm in a pickle, my Walgreens will not fill but 120 oxy pills a month , I take six a day so I can get water and soft food down, also still taking chemo, this fla law hurts people that need pain meds to survive
