Oxycodone 30 Mg No Longer Prescribed Under New Law
UpdatedDoes anyone understand the new opioid law that was recently passed? It seems doctors can not prescribe 30 milligrams of oxycodone without being hospitalized, or a cancer patient. What is going to happen to all the chronic pain patients? The suicide rate will go up, and illicit drugs will be used as a substitute. This law helps no one, but hurts all chronic pain sufferers. The government has gone crazy, and in their infinite wisdom overstepped their bounds, they are not doctors.

It isn't that they can't prescribe it, it is just that they have to be very, very careful about doing so, or they could risk losing their license to practice medicine, as well as fines and jail time. This has made many doctors very reluctant to prescribe it and, in most cases, someone has to see a specialist to continue taking it.
The DEA has issued directives to try to help curb abuse and over prescribing, it advises doctors to be very careful of how they prescribe it for and how much they prescribe, because their prescribing practices will be scrutinized.
The NIH warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as headache, dry mouth, constipation, and nausea.
Individual states, of course, may have set different laws and practices in place. I cannot say anything about them, as I am not familiar with them all.
What other solution has your doctor suggested?
