Blue, it depends on the type of evaluation that they run. Some U/A drug panels are more sensitive than others.
I don't know if this is still the case, but I found an older document from 2007 on Floridahealth.gov, stating that "a patient visiting Florida (who is a non-resident) under his/her out of state doctor's care for a chronic condition CAN have his/her out of state doctor either call in or otherwise legally transmit a prescription to be filled by a Florida licensed pharmacist for that condition."

If this still holds true, you shouldn't have any problems getting it filled - Except for the fact that many pharmacies around the country are also having to tell patients they're out of stock and won't have any until a certain date, due to limitations put in place by the DEA, etc. So if that ever happens you could still find yourself going from pharmacy to pharmacy just to see who has it in stock first and foremost.
Hope this helps!
That has changed since the reclassification Oct 6, 2014. It applies to a dr calling in or sending electronically a rx. It says nothing about if someone has a paper rx already written. If the OP deals with a chain pharmacy back home, they need to go to the same chain pharmacy, although that is no guarantee that they will be able to get the rx filled.
Have been seen by a pm Dr. for the last 12 years he retired. Last script is for 11/18/15 hydrocodone 10. I have to stretch it because I didn't want to cold turkey. I've been taking one a night. Was really needing it cause I didn't know when I'd be seen. I have a U/A tomorrow at 3:30, but I took one Sunday at 1:00 am. I found out today at 5:00 pm. Will I be OK.
If your doctor holds a valid license in Florida they'll fill it. If he's not licensed in Florida they won't.
