What is the expiration date on the bottle?
Liquid medications tend to expire faster than most other forms and may actually turn sour, so they could make you sick, if you take one when expired.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth.
It would also be a good idea to have your back checked out to be sure of what's causing the pain.
