Opiate Doseing Comparison Chart
UpdatedI have been taking hydrocodone and oxycodone for chronic severe pain for several years and I feel completely satisfied when I can take the proper dosage established for my pain. I do not feel a need to raise the dose of this medication, once the right dose was given to me, that seemed high enough to "fix" my pain, that dose seemed to work, as long as I took it as prescribed, I was so thankful to be able to move again and not feel the serious pain getting in my way, it worked like a charm, and I really never felt any need to increase the amount or frequency of this medication even though I have taken it pretty much the same for almost 17 years, for extremely aggressive Osteoarthritis, with a lot of bone and joint damage, with fibromyalgia. I have had to have several joint replacement surgeries, including hip & shoulder replacement and four cervical (neck) fusions, and joint repair on my toes, and fingers. I need repair (if possible) now on my wrists, and both ankles. I am having difficulty wearing a left ankle/lower leg brace). It is imperative THAT I KEEP MOVING AND STAY ACTIVE, and for that, I depend on strong pain medication to help me overcome the daily pain- that I face everyday. Occasionally I have been prescribed Dilaudid when the former, Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, have not been available to have filled, but for some reason this drug does nothing to help mask my pain and help me get up and going everyday, which even with the medications that work for me is a great challenge to stay motivated and do my best to keep moving and not let it defeat me. I wonder if Dilaudid is just not strong enough to the daily dosage of the former, that took awhile to establish a dose that would be effective, but once the dose was set to the amount of pain I was living with that allowed me to continue to be independent and care for myself, to continue to get dressed and go shopping and clean the house or shop and drive, and in general, continue with the quality of life necessary to continue to live and survive. I would like to see a comparison chart. I take 80 mg. Oxycontin three times a day, and as a breakthough, I also take Oxycodone 15mg. as breakthough, up to six times per 24 hours, and 200 mg. Celebrex twice a day. When I take this medication at this dosage, or occasionally less if having a good day and I have been very active and been moving around without any particular aches and pains-I can get by with less some of the time. Where can I get a comparison dosage chart for opiate medications?

Hello, Les1ie! How are you? I'm very sorry about your pain.
I can't post a chart for you, due to copyright reasons, but I can list comparisons for you, so you can covert from there for each opiate. Since you are familiar with Oxycodone, I'll start with 10mgs of it and then list the equivalent doses of the others underneath…
10mgs of oral Oxycodone is equivalent to…
100mgs of oral Codeine
15mgs of oral Hydrocodone
3.75mgs of oral Hydromorphone
150mgs of oral Meperidine
15mgs of oral Morphine
5mgs of oral Oxymorphone and
150mgs of oral Tramadol.
The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth.
Is there anything else I can help with?
