Opana Vs Oxy

hello... I recently was rx'd oyxcontin 30mg, 2 x day and I am thinking of switching to opana. first, is opana available as a generic?? second, does it " feel " the same as oxy's?? the oxy's cost me about $ 150.00!! WITH insurance...just looking for something similar without the high cost.. thanks for any and all input..

Hi House,

I'm only going off my own research here, so I'd like to leave some of the more specific details for those to contribute who've already had personal experience between the two medications. However from what I've read on several threads concerning how it feels in comparison to Oxycodone, information I'm finding reportedly states that it has a less euphoric feeling than Oxycodone. It also is thought to be similar to a stronger version of "morphine" as far as effects go.

And according to rxlist, Opana ER (not sure about IR) is only available as a brand name/NOT generic.

Although, if anyone with personal experience feels differently about its comparison to Oxy's, my investigation was merely based on the majority of feedback I came across online; but do welcome any additional input you may have.
