Opana Or Fentanyl Confused About Dosing

Hello. I have been on 25 mcg of fetanyl patch every 48 hours for 9 months and 15mgs of oxycodone 4 times daily for breakthrough pain. I am thinking about getting off of the patch.

How much Opana or (Oxymorphone) would be the equivalent of 25mcg of the fentanyl patch?

How much Opana or (Oxymorphone ER) would be the best dose to switch to with no withdrawals?

Hello Gia! How are you?

Is the patch helping? Why do you wish to stop using it?

You need about 2.8mgs of Oxymorphone to be equivalent to each 25mcg Fentanyl patch, but there are going to be differences in the time release duration, and dosing frequency.

On your doctor can help you decide if your doing so would be safe for you, and the best way to do so.

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

No one can really guarantee that you won't experience any withdrawal effects, unfortunately.
