Opana 40mg Vs Oxycontin Op 80mg (Page 10)

my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg

your taking 6 perc 15s a day...and u wonder why 1 opana 20 time release didnt work. try a 40mg rapid release hun...change your life

The opanas are much better for pain and seem to last longer than even the old o c s. The new o p s suck and don't care what anyone says they are not the same as old o c s. But like any drug you will build up a tolerance pretty quickly. If u are new to taking them ,start slowly and give about 20 min.s to kick in. Hope this was some helpful info.

Your doc is correct the opanas are as good or better than the old Oc 80s. The new o p 80 s are garbage stick with opanas. Best thing out right now. Good luck

I take gabapentin which is the generic of neurontin. I have been taking them for 11 years. I take *00 mlg. 4x a day. That is 3200 mlg's aday, that is the limit. I also looked it up. So you can have your dr. increase it for you. You are not at the limit yet.God Bless.

I have been on both oc and op as well as opana. the opana worked great however it did make me very drowsy. i am a contractor and do need both breakthrough medication and long term however after being on norcos for 2 yrs i finally got to pain management and was put on opana. as i said i didnt like them as they made me drowsy and screwed with my sex life. my doctor then switched me to the knew op's first 60 mg 3 X a day and 4 percs a day 10mg. in the past weeek she has taken me down to 1 60 mg in am and 1 40 mg. in afternoon. this is hell and i dont think she is tapering me off at all the way i should be. she has a goal to get me down to 2 40.s a day and no breakthrough. if anyone out there can help me out please email me.

I tried the 20 mg Opana's compared to 10/325 Percocets 6 times a day! I must say the Opana's don't work as well as the Percocet!! So until they come up with something different, I will continue taking something that works! The worst thing is that Percocet is only a fast acting drug, it wears off after 3 hours!!

Over the pase year or so I have moved up to Oxy 40mg and I started to have some pain controle. My Dr changed me to Opana 5mg XL " did nothing, moved me to 10mg XL still did nothing, 30 days later moved me to 15mg XL and guess what... yupp still nothing.. another 30 days moved me to 20mg XL and still nothing... Am I wasting my time here.. four months and I am still back at ground zero.. my Vicodin do more for my pain than this Opana..

On a cheap drug test, will Dilaudid show up any different than Oxycodone (ie, Roxiecodone 30mg)?

I could not agree with you more pain girl, i to was on oxys before theY screwed them all up now i to am on opana i take 6 opana 40 mg a day...I am an ex pro football player and like you, have severe chronic pain and RSD witch very few people no anything about,,,,,Ffourtonitly i do have some of the best pain mgt docs in the world from Johns Hopkins and Jefferson in PHILA ....All i can say is for those of you who take pain meds to get HIGH, shame on you and you will get yours, well i have to get off the computer as my neck is in spasam because i have been on it for ten minuets , ok gir,l good luck and feel better, Stevie B

i have tried almost every thing there is pretty much been 20 years worth of pain so what works we will soon see i like the 20 ir and 20 er oxy morphane mix with 10 200 vicoprofen and 10 325 perks so im gonna try them go monday let everyone know what happens as far as self med i dont ijust save some break through it helps

get a second opinion any one living in pain needs a quality of life so i went through many before i meet my doc hard ass but u know what when im in pain no problem come in remed me im on my way i cant be in pain cant move very well spine in bad shape

I was also on Opana 40 mg because the Oxycontin 160 mg twice a day, 80mg +80mg =my 160 mg.. Anyway the new oxycontins are useless they messed up a very good medication. Getting back to where i was since the opana 40mg wasnt helping he wanted to try me on escalgo, i think thats how its spelled but again that as well no good. I'm back on the oxycontins were they help very little about half as they used to.
I also take Oxycodone 30 mg 1 tab 8 times a day, Now my powdered blues help A LOT !! thank god for those ones. I'm sorry that I was rolling and got off track.
Now i forgot whos ad i was answering. Does anyone else feel like a test subject for new narcotics ?

I am suffering from Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and have begun to go downhil pretty quickly. My Rheumatologist switched me from Fentanyl patches to Avinza 90MG but because I am on Medicare and do not want to end up in the donut hole, we switched to Oxycodone ER 40 MG. The pharmacist says no longer available, only Oxycontin. Is this drug expensive too? I really am concerned not only about costs but about the nickname "Hillbilly Heroin" that I have heard in reference to Oxycontin. Any thoughts?

Dude you are going to die very soon if you don't stop taking so much!!!! I have a spinal cord injury and huge amounts of chronic pain in my back and burning nerve pain in my legs. I took almost every pain killer in the book. I can tell you any opiate medication should only be taken on a short term (1 to 3 months max) bases or unless your going to die anyway and just want the rest of your short life to be less painful. I was taking 8, 40mg of Methadone a day 4 in the morning and 4 at night (320mg a day) along with Percocet 10/325 at the peek of my ignorance of taking opiate pain medication. It was hell coming off them but once I survived 3 months of agony I got my life back. No more ball and chain with pain pills. They were controlling my life and sapping the energy out of me. A lot of people take them for the high. I did not. I only took them to function and after taking them for about 4 months my body was dependent, in other words I was screwed. I didn't even know whether my pain was from my back and legs or just the symptoms of withdraw. Its a no win situation. I was only able to quit because I didn't take them for the high and that gave me more drive than most to stop taking them. So If you want to live for more then 5 to 10 more years I would detox off any and all opiate pain meds (unless used for a short time). Its the only way to enjoy your life without having to take a pill every few hours just so you don't suffer from withdraws. Now that my friends is a fate I wish on no one. I use Marinol 10mg (its a cannabinoid) for my pain now and it works wonders. It has no narcotic effect so no dependance on it. I can take it only when I have pain and not every freaken day just to keep the withdraws away. Any way STOP TAKING THAT JUNK MAN and move on with your life. You need to find an alternative to opiates or risk your life.
