On And Off Xarelto

had a superficial clot in my elbow due to inactivity in a arm sling. my doc put me on xarelto I was on it for 11 days when I bruised my knee The swelling was terrible with blood all the way up my leg to my butt and half way down my calf I went back to the doc after four days of pain He said the ultra sound showed my clot in the elbow was resolved but he took me off xarelto so the bleeding would stop in the leg bruise he said to come back in two weeks but others have said I need to go back on the blood thinner as soon as the swelling has gone down I am confused and frightened by all I read anyone have a clear opinion on this?

It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions, unless those others you've spoken to also have medical degrees.

There can be risks associated with stopping Xarelto, but sometimes it is necessary due to such complications arising.

The FDA lists the other side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding.

Have you considered getting a second opinion from another doctor? Maybe that would help ease your mind.
