Ofloxacin Suspension For Infant

Child specialist has prescribed ofloxacin syrup to my 8 month old grandchild 4ml twice a day for a cough & cold. When his mother had given the medicine to the baby, he tried to cough / vomit. Is the ofloxacin is safe for the baby? The taste of the syrup is not good. Please advise.

As listed by the U.S. FDA, nausea and vomiting can be normal side effects of this medication, it could also cause dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash.

Have you tried mixing it with juice or apple sauce?

It is best to stay away from using dairy products, but unless the doctor states otherwise, it usually okay to mix it with fruits, jello or juices to make it more palatable.

My 8 month old girl weighs 9kg, has a fever and doctors prescribed ofloxacin 6.5ml 4 times a day. That ofloxacin contains 60ml and each 5 ml contains 50mg. Later I found out that that much of a dose was too much. In total, I gave her 6.5 ml 16 times. Now I had stopped it. Could it affect my daughter's health? What should I do now? I'm very stressed.
