Ofloxacin Ornidazole Tablet Side Effects

I am 38 yrs male and I am an ibs patient, it is more than 12 years old. I am always feeling discomfort due to more mucus in my stool. I am taking ofloxacin ornidazole tablets daily. When I stop taking this medicine the flow of mucus is more with or without stool. I want to know, is it safe for me taking this tablet daily?

Hi, Raja! I'm sorry to hear about the problem that you're having.

But no, it is not safe to just continuously take an antibiotic medication, due to the fact that you may develop antibiotic resistance that could cause serious problems in the future, if you were to develop an infection.

What you need to do is consult a doctor to discover what's causing the mucous in your stool. It may not be from anything serious, there are some other medications, medical conditions and foods that can cause it to happen, but there is a chance that its due to a serious problem.

Do you have a doctor that you see regularly?

Sir, I am very grateful to you for your advice.I have consulted many doctor before 4 months and my Colonoscopy, CT scan, MRI report and many other reports are normal.
Doctor says that, I have no disease and this is an IBS problem. And doctor also prescribe me ofloxacin ornidazole tablet for 20 days,Probiotics supplement (vsl#3) for 1 month,after that he suggested me that I can take ofloxacin ornidazole tablet irregularity basis when the mucus will be more. But when I stop taking medicine, upto 4 to 5 days this is normal but after 5 days I feel discomfort due to more mucus in my stool. Please suggest me what shall I do ? Can I take probiotics supplement VSL#3 daily. I always take good diet which is less oil and spicy and I do not take any alcohol or cigarette.

does ofloxacin cause diarrhea?
it is always given by my doctor to treat diarrhea.

I am 62 years old, suffering from chronic ibs about 15 years. ibs treated by M.D. doctor. he prescribed mebaverin(mebaspa), probiotics and enzyme tab. (enjox plus).
during treatment was better for a few days but when stop drugs all complain comeback. my normal life hampers. all of pathological report is normal.
diarrhea and constipation alters and abdominal pain and discomfort feelings always.
another doctor advice me to take ofloxacin ordinazole combined tabs. when I take this drug, I feel much better. si I take ofloxacin an ordinazole tab. bi weekly about 5 years. without this drug I can not.attend my duty.
I request you sir, what will be result this type of drud if I take irregularly. plz. suggest me

I am 35+ and my pharmacist prescribed this drug ofloxacine onidazole for me because where I am working at the moment I could not get a permit to go do an evaluation. But since I have been taking this drug I been have having a severe lower back pain (is waist pain), difficulty sleeping, and I consume plenty of fluids at night. Because of this I took only 9 tabs out of the 20 tabs he prescribed for me. Pls would there be a side effect cause of this? How can I stop the lower back pain because it's giving me a lot of discomfort as I have not had a sleep since the past 3 days?
