Norcos And Breastfeeding

I broke my ankle last night and the emergency room prescribed norcos for pain and I advised them multiple time that I exclusively breastfeed my 12 week old and they said it was okay . I'm just wanting to make sure I didn't get bad information . Thanks ahead of time

The Hydrocodone in this medication has been known to pass through the breast milk to the infant, as reported by the FDA, and it may cause them to be very drowsy, to sleep for long periods of time and to become constipated.

There have also been cases of infants getting too much of it and experiencing fatal overdoses.

Thus, I think it would be best to consult your personal doctor to see what you can safely take.
