Why is it that some doctors still question you about pain pills when you have a metal plate in your knee and broke your leg several times and hurts so much but won't give me surgery! I have been taking these pills for almost 4 years since my accident and I just want to feel better, without people knowing I have became so dependent on them! I don't want to hurt the ones I love. I am very well educated, great job, I want to feel better again, my attitude changes due to taking to many due to pain or not having any! Please suggestions I don't want to be addicted anymore and my doctors are just pill pushers. I want my life back if I could help anyone never take these I would they are bad news for everyone may not seem bad now but I am watching my fun, forgiving loving personality slip from my fingers!!!! I want help but I want to do it by myself and with a little extra help by not going to rehab or being humiliated even though I got myself in this mess.

Hello, Ariella! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you're going through.

How many are you taking each day?

If you're only taking them as prescribed, then you may do well just tapering off of them, with your doctor's assistance. However, if you're taking more and have an actual addiction, then you may need to use something like Suboxone or Methadone to get off of them.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
