I previously was on percocet 10mg one 4 times a day..it was no longer working but due to new state and federal regulations my Dr wouldn't give anything stronger and informed me as of 9/1/2016 would no longer treat pain except with Tylenol #3 or Tylenol #4. Like a i**** I tried Tylenol #4 one every 4 hours.....TERRIBLE PAIN. So I was given a referral to a pain Dr and saw on Monday.. today is Thursday. Started on new RX of ms contin 15mg one every 12 hours.....this is rediculous....PAIN IS HORRENDOUS. Have only slept like 3-4 hours a night since Monday. Called pain Dr today and nurse said Dr is out until tomorrow..and that I should give it like 7 days before saying it's not working..and she would tell the Dr on call but she doubted they would just change. The pharmacist I called said if it was gonna help I probably would have seen an effect within 48 hours....please any suggestions here is greatly appreciated. I have Lupus, chronic back pain, RA And Fibromyalgia. Thank you for listening.

The Oxycodone in Percocet is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosage you are currently on is not equivalent, which most likely explains why you're still in pain.
The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
I know restrictions have been advised, but there are exceptions for those that may have potentially fatal conditions, such as Lupus, so I am afraid I don't understand why they are being so hesitant in prescribing proper dosages to make you comfortable. I'm not a doctor, so I can only tell you what I've read up on this, but there have been a lot of people with Lupus that have posted, because they are being left to suffer.
Does anyone else have any advice or ideas that may help?
