my husband takes 2/ 2.5 a day and experiencing nose bleeds that last for hours... could this be the cause

It seems possible - "The principal action of nitroglycerin is vasodilation"widening of the blood vessels ... The side effects of Nitroglycerin include lack of sexual desire, head ache, painful urination and increased bowel movements"

I would also advise reporting this to the prescribing physician so that they may consider trying alternative treatments.
