Based on my research, the antibiotic Nitrofurantoin is used to treat various types of infections. BID means it is supposed to be taken twice daily.
According to healthtap.com you should use a back-up method of birth control (ie. condom)while taking Nitrofurantoin. Even though there is little evidence supporting a massive increase in pregnancies with antibiotic use, it is better to be safe than sorry. Use the back-up method during the run of your antibiotic and continue for one week
Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.

Ive taken this medication for UTI. This medication caused me alot of health pulmonary complications such as bronchitis, shortness of breathe, coughing, wheezing and fever.
