Yes, the general rule with antibiotics is that if if they are working, there should be no worsening of the infection after a full 24 hours of taking them and you should see improvement after 3 full days of taking it.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-alelrgic skin rash and diarrhea.

If you're not seeing any improvement, you should return to your doctor, you may need to try a different antibiotic.
