Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic. It is usually used in treating urinary tract infection. Like many other drugs, it is often used for killing E Coli.
I did not locate anywhere that it treats throat infections, I would go to your nearest pharmacist and ask he/she what they think before you take it.
