New_doctor_need_help

New insurance, new doctor, been getting 5mg oxycodone for spinal fusion,chronic pain for past several years. How do I ask new doctor to give me this. Had kidney/liver problems so they give me this, no aspirin, no tylonel. Doctor is afraid to prescribe. Should I just get new doctor?

When you're going to a new doctor I would first recommend letting your medical records speak for themselves, that way your doctor has a chance to talk with you about any options you've tried that may or may not have worked.

Unfortunately in this society if you openly ask for a certain type of narcotic, they tend to see that as drug seeking behavior and are more opposed to prescribing it at all.

However, if your current physician just isn't willing to give you what you need, then exploring other doctors would certainly be your best bet.
