New To Pristiq

Just started last night 50 mg. Took around 8:30 pm. I woke around 1:50am had to use bathroom. Then tossed, turned all night, brain won't shut off. I think I finally feel asleep around 8:30am woke up 9:40 am... could not get out of bed. Made myself get up. Feel weird, tired but awake. I don't like this feeling. I am laying in bed and was trying to nap since 2pm, no freaking luck! I just want to sleep!!!

I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.

However, this does occur frequently, when starting such a medication. It tends to alter how soon you enter the REM sleep phase and how much time you spent in it, which sometimes results in sleep that isn't restful and/or insomnia. However, it usually improves after about 3 to 4 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication.

If it doesn't, or if it gets worse, you should speak to your doctor, because this might not be the right medication for you.

You may also experience headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.

Hello, Desvenlafaxine is to be taken in the morning. Your doctor should have told you this. A quick google search should uncover this too. Unlike some few other antidpressants (like Mirtazapine) it is awakening and should not be taken at night. The majority of antidepressants are awakening. I hope you have better luck (and better advice) next time!
