This is used, mainly, as a supplement for people who show a deficiency in this vitamin complex.
From the scarce information I can find, it doesn't appear to make it stay in your system longer, it just helps make sure you get an adequate amount of it.
There is a version made by Merck, however, it is also possibly made by other companies, the labeling should help answer this question.
It actually contains more than B1, it also contains B6 andd B12.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
