Need A Substitute For 40mg Oxycontin (Top voted first)
UpdatedIve been taking the oxycontin for 10 yrs. best drug I ever had till the ops just came out. I only swallow them as directed. It used to take 30 min for me to feel them. Now its 3 hrs. and then it just slowly releases. A lortab is even better now. used to take a 40mg at 5 am-11am-and 5 pm. they worked great. some people I know couldnt take them for i made them drowsy or sick at their stomach. not for Me, it kept Me motivated and was perfect for my arthritis. [which is 24/7] my wrists are the size of baseballs. I need to find a substitute medication that will motivate me and not make Me sleepy. Can anyone help? Thanks, Steve. 63yrs. old

I take oxycodone 30 mg 4x a day and OxyContin 40 mg 4x day what's the best way to take these should I take both together or take roxy then a hr or so later take oxycodone I feel I'm not getting the full effect of both meds and
Still in excruciating pain but really don't want to go up on them.
To the OP, it is actually far more common for this medication to cause drowsiness, and there is really no way for anyone to know how any other given one might effect you. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and constipation.
Ted, yes Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so to be equivalent to 60mgs of Oxycodone, you'd need 90mgs of Morphine.
Stacy, it really depends on what works best for you, you might want to try taking them both ways, to see which helps you the most.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth.
Is there anything else I can help with?
