Naproxen Expiration 9/17/2015

Naproxen 250 mg prescription filled on 9/17/14 - Could I take one today since I have a doctor appointment tomorrow 10/23/15?

This medication doesn't become dangerous once expired, but it does start to lose effectiveness, so it would be best to dispose of it.

The 220mg is available over the counter, so you could take that, if your doctor approves.

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding.

Can you describe where you get your evidence of safety past expiry? Have you done studies on the related compounds, impurities and degradation components as illustrated in chromatographic data through the stability period? Are you considering the humidity, light and heat stress to the API? Are you aware of any studies from the FDA on the long term effect of those degradents and related compounds? You must consider these factors before you recommend such dangerous advice.
