Multiple Oxycodone Prescriptions
UpdatedI have multiple back injuries starting from being a gymnast when I was younger, being in a abusive relationship, and then taking a really bad fall in a local supermarket. I've had xrays, mri's, physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, inj's. The last resort was back surgery and I replied, "absolutely not" I'm sorry but nobody is cutting my back open. I've heard to many stories where there surgeries either did nothing or made the pain worse. I currently have been on 30 mg oxycodone #180 and oxymorphone aka opana 20 mg #60. I've noticed over the past 1.5 years its been getting more difficult to get my meds filled because I recently had to change my pain Dr because he now is a Dr in the hospital and no longer has his pain management practice. So my new Dr said "did I get another pain prescription from another Dr" I said "No, you can't do that its illegal" He responded with "well if you did we will find out" I felt very uncomfortable after that short conversation and honestly I was pissed because of all the people that don't have a legitimate injury and do see multiple drs. My question is, "Doesn't PA have a database that can link all pharmacies so this can be stopped"?

Hello, Sophia! How are you?
Yes, there is a database, so it should eliminate this issue for you. They can check, or those checking the databases will report if someone received multiples.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
But, don't take it personal. My guess would be that this doctor says that to all of their patients to try to scare them out of doctor shopping.
Is there anything else I can help with?
