Ms Contin 15mg Er
UpdatedDoes it take some time to build up in the system for this medication to start working for pain? I have just started taking them today, 1 every 12 hours. Thank you for any information that you can give me.

Hi gwen,
While it's certainly going to take some time for it to fully build up in your system, I would think that you should at least be able to feel or notice some sensation of relief within a short period of time after taking your dose.
However, because MS Contin is timed released and usually lasts up to 12 hours, it's time-release effect could also be minimizing how much is absorbed into your system at any given moment; making it seem like it's not working as well as it should be. That's my theory anyways...But in the event that you're just not getting any relief at all (after what you would consider to be a reasonable amount of time), I would suggest talking to your doctor about more effective alternatives.
I hope this helps!
Thanks for your reply David, I appreciate the information. I'll give it some time and get back to my doc if need be. I'm scheduled to see him again in 2 months but will give him a call if I don't get any relief. Thanks again, helpful advice.
