I have been taking 60 mg of morphine a day for about two weeks now. I want to stop completely but l cannot afford to go through withdrawals being that l have two jobs. Can you please tell me how to wean myself off? I really do not want to take them anymore l know l will just become more addicted to them. Can l cut my doseage down over a period of time until l stop completely? Please help!

Hello, Natalie! How are you?

Yes, a slow taper is usually best to minimize withdrawal symptoms, but you should follow your doctor's instructions for the best results.

The FDA lists the typical withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain, drowsiness and diarrhea.

However, if you're taking the time released tablets, you can't actually cut them, because that could result in overdose.

Are there any markings on them?
